With the OP going PD blower, no way. The low end torque will destroy a 305/30…and I have plenty of experience to back up that claim. Back when I only had 600 WHP the best thing I did was go with 305/35/20 and that extra height helped my traction situation considerably.

If you’re NA it can often times make sense to go with the shorter wheel/tire. But that wasn’t the case here.

Sure, if you keep the width and gain a longer contact patch with the taller tire plus you make your effective gearing taller, you can give more throttle on launch without losing traction. That's not the same as going taller but losing 30mm of tire width to use a 275/40/20.

Obviously in a perfect world, you’d do both.

In this case it was presented as an either/or, and as King mentioned there are cars getting into the 7’s on 275s if you can get the height and sidewall optimized, so the width plays a smaller factor than most believe.

A 275 40 20 is 28.7 inches tall, wouldnt that create a few possible issues?

What's worst case scenario the tire rubs the felt and hits that wiring harness ?

Will the cars electronics like a tire 1inch taller than the fronts?

No.
On the rear wheel well there is a wiring harness. If tire is too wide it can rub through the felt splash guard and hit the harness

This applies to SS and LT1 trim only I believe

It applies to any 6th gen camaro. A 28 inch tall 10-11
inch wide tire will take care of most peoples needs and create no issues whatsoever.

From what I understand the cars computers and sensors do not tolerate anymore than a 3% difference in tire diameter from front to rear or rear to front.

27.7 + 3% = 28.5 so 28.7 could be troublesome

It will cause issues with the brake lights and truck latch if I remember correctly. Lethal rubbed through his back in the day before anybody knew to relocate it. Ended up replacing the harness. Why not just relocate the harness like many of us have done to accommodate a larger tire? It's pretty easy to do.
