I'm running a drop in GREEN filter and I guess I will be ripping out the air blocker tonight also.

Also, oiled or dry? Why do you offer both and what's recommended for a street only car?

Thanks.
Installing the Roto-Fab is easy, won't stress you out at all. I'm running a dry filter myself, but don't think there is a tangible difference in power or sound (had a wet filter before the current one).

Mal, the Cold Air Inductions CAI for the ZL1 might be an alternative for you. It is made of carbon fiber and a closed airbox and is a very easy install. It is pricey though even through Summit Racing at over $700.00.

OK with some extra time on my hands this Sunday, I decided to give this a try.

Wish I would have re-read this post first as I tried to remover the shroud without removing the hood latch. Anyway try to expand on what FoundNemo said.

Step 1) Remove hood latch and let hang (2 arrows). I used a 13MM ratcheting wrench and it worked well.

Step 2) Remove the circled 10mm bolts, torx bolts, and plastic clips.

Step 3) Remove shroud. It comes off pretty easy with a little bit of lifting on the front bumper.

Step 4) Remove 3 plastic clips that hold the plastic ‘blocker’ in place.

This was the most annoying part of the whole thing. After using every pry tool and flat head I had I removed the top clip and middle right clip, but it seemed to take forever. After messing around with the bottom clip for too long, I just stuck some big scissors down there and cut it.

Here are some pictures that hopefully make this make more sense.

On another note, its kinda surprising how bottled up the intake is and how little ‘fresh air’ it seems to get.

For comparison, here is a picture of the air filter on one of my other cars taken from just kneeling down and looking through the grill.

100%. This is what I have and it is absolutely perfect.

No need for the general aftermarket or Rotofab nonsense as it just lends to more whine. HP gains are usually best case scenarios is a closed / cool environment.

CDFF, did this mod seem to help increase hp? Thanks for the pics and descriptions and is it worth the time and effort in your opinion to do it? I’m contemplating doing it and just wondering!

it is a "why not" kind of mod...can't hurt and it might help.

I agree. After seeing how indirect the air flow situation is on these cars, I would imagine removing the blocker will let the car make full power more of the time.

The path of air from outside the car into the filter is really small and definitely not ‘smooth’

In my experience, the car definitely seemed to get into boost notably quicker, meaning the car is definitely peppier around town. Peak boost is mechanically limited and unchanged from what I saw but the car is def quicker down low for me. A10 here 2019
