Rear blew apart? Actually it’s the half shaft that came off.

Any one have experience with fixing the rear end cost wise. I guess I might as well upgrade gears and parts. I have not inspected it totally but it blew apart like a grenade, parts rain behind me on the road. I am currently killing an hour waiting for the flat top tow company.

Update: actually after inspecting the car in the light with wheels off it’s the half shaft that came off. Bolts let losse and sheared off.

depends on which doc you go too...rear ends can be problematic...

A few have done that but its usually launching at the drag strip on drag radials. The Magnuson Camaro switched to a MW 9" ford. There are a lot of other costs involved so its a pretty expensive swap.

How did that happen? Could it have been the axle shaft bolts backing out?

This happen while cruising or launching?
You have a lot of mods already. I would upgrade the rear.

It happened was cruising, maybe 30mph then I hammered it. Heard a loud nosie in rear, and then the sound of metal hitting undercarriage and falling on the road.

Have to still inspect the damage, towed it home last night in the dark. I could smell rear end fuild.

Going to jack it up in a bit and take tires off to inspect the damage.

It’s the passenger side half shaft that came off. What I heard was all the bolts flying off and the bang was when the shaft hit the undercarriage until it completely came off the diff. I have no idea if the diff is damaged.

I no there is a note out there about the bolts coming undone, the remedy from GM is longer bolts. WTF

If it can happen to me it can happen to you. Check your bolts and get the longer ones from GM.

Now the phone to the dealer.
