I had a flat tire today due to a nail in a touchless car wash. Fixed under warranty, no problem. First oil change after break-in (2200 KM), since I was already scheduled for service.

Funny fact: I saw a black redline SS at the dealership while I was waiting there. I am not a fan of black but the dealer was able to make me an offer, to trade my RS for 8-10K more (Canadian $). Was veeery tempting but I didn’t take it. Maybe if it was yellow...

My long term plan is to pay this car, keep it and also get a ZL1

What dealer were you at?
Regarding taking care of the outside, and being a frequent traveller of the same highways your travelling, get PPF on the car. It’s expensive but I would say it’s well worth it. Otherwise, it won’t be long before the car looks like it’s been sandblasted in areas.

I asked the dealer not to clean the exterior, they have a brush system car wash. I do have a pressure washer, soap and everything, I am already washing my Mazda at home.

But how can I add a layer of "something" to even protect the paint more?

Thanks again!
So its basically the more quality time spent detailing your car the longer it will last between time needing to do it again. Wash, clay, wax, there are a lot of new nano waxes out there that are easier to apply.. There is a thread here from glen e that explains it very well. Congrats and good luck...
