Unusual shoulder wear on P Zero slick
Hi folks
I running used P Zero 305/690/19 slick, and I have strong outside shoulder wear both front and rear. Middle section and inside shoulder wear beautifully even. I use PTM Sport1 to warm up and drive with either PTM Race of All off. Suspension steering wheel and exhaust are all in track mode. I'm running 3.5 degree front and 2.3 degree of camber rear. 1/32 inch toe out at front and 1/16 inch toe in at rear. I have Moreno camber plate and BMR rear toe arm. The rest are stock. I love how it drives and I know I can always go back to stock tire or SupreCar3R, but i don't want to give up yet. These used slick are $600 a set and can last 2 weekend about 14 hour track time on my friend's C7 Z06 because they wear evenly Is it possible because my 1LE has too much of body roll as the tire traction is over its design limit? Or I need more camber? Or A set of $5000 DSSV could be the answer? Below is my PDR at sebring Some of my friend think it's because my hand was too quick on steering. Anyone please help |

What wheels are you running? Front wear is normal, yes- body roll is main factor there. I run a narrower tire, 285/645 18 and my rears wear the inner 1/3 of the tire more than the outer shoulder, and I only run -1.8 rear camber. This can also be very track dependent too. You don’t need more camberfrom my experience (I’ve gone through 5-6 sets of P-Zeros).

Thanks for the input. I'm running Signature SV103 with 19x11 front and 19x11.5 rear. I'm usually go Homestead-Miami Speedway and Sebring International raceway. The interesting part is tire shoulder wear identical front and rear. I'm not sure if a stiffer sway bar going to upset the car. car now handles slightly understeer and can be change with small amount of weight transfer, which is exactly what I like. If body roll really the key to this problem, I will go with GMPP DSSV. |

Perhaps the outside tires are 'rolling under', which (to me, anyway) points to either wheel widths or inflation pressures as potential culprits. Some good photography or video might be useful to either confirm or deny.

Yeah, good point Norm. These PZero slicks have insanely stiff sidewalls, but you need to VERY gradually bring these tires up to pressure. Hot target PSI should be 30-32, which means you need to start around 24-25. It’s usually a full 2 lap install for me, then on lap 3 I start leaning on them. Laps 1&2 I usually point almost everyone by as I’m only going 50-60% pace. If I drove the slicks like a street tire, not installing them- they’d prolly eat the shoulders.

Your setup is very close to mine....down to the BMR rear tow bars!
I run Apexi rins in 18" I run Pirelli DH slicks in 305 680 18 square even though the rear rim is 11 and front 10.5 I start off 23psi R and 24psi F on a normal summer day in PA. I air down if over 31 hot. No unusual tire wearing. I measure temps of the tire @ 3 points and temps should not very more then ~10 degress F. Pic of your tire would help. Buy one of these! http://www.longacreracing.com/produc...ital-Pyrometer |

my point in showing that vid is that more money spent on mods is not going to make you faster...seat time is. That car runs a 67mm restrictor plate.
Granted its less weight then ours but Andy A. is a awesome smooth driver. If your going to do shocks call them and get a set of Penski. |

Assuming you're warming up the Pirelli's in a way that's not causing the wear pattern, you need more dynamic wheel rate to reduce dynamic camber loss. The only two ways to do that are 1) more main spring, and/or 2) stiffer anti-roll bars. Do you have a preference on which?
As a data-point, when I went to Supercar3R's I changed my ARB's to Hotchkis front and BMR SB054 rear. Read my member journal thread for the full monte, but the short answer is that combo is equally stiffer front and rear from the FE4 ARB's, meaning no change in balance. I have 4 track "days" on the Supercar3R's and the wear patterns I would put at "acceptable" for this platform.
