I guess im kind of torn on the need for a 1LE right now. the previous one was released to address all of the trackability issues the SS has (understeer etc.). The current car has yet to really show any of these issues. So unless the new 1LE is released to really be more of a Track Pack type thing im not really sure what changes they could make. the car hasn't been out long enough for improvements to really make sense...or they would have just been implemented in the standard car.

I cannot prove this, but I have a feeling you will find more 1LE's for sale here than ANY other site such as auto trader.

I agree on the mag ride. IF they decide to include that as an option, which I am 50/50 on, it will make a huge difference. Again though, they are only marketing this car to the 2% that want a track focused Camaro and mag ride does not fit in that equation IMO. GM sold just as many 1LE's they intended to, if not more, and as the saying goes "if it ain't broke.......".
Ask Ferrari about mag ride in track cars....

So, is there anyone suspecting that the Sema "Performance Package Concept" may in fact be the 1LE? instead of getting a black hood, you get that specific stripes set? its a farfetched idea since we've seen so much of the performance concept already, but its possible. the Sema car did come with the chevy performance exhaust (not the NPP one) which is what leads me to this theory.

what do you guys think?

Considering how many old farts with too much money buy them to drive to Starbucks, might not be the best example.

To me, the SEMA car is nothing but just a design and soon to be available aftermarket parts showcase car. Not seeing anything in particular that screams the 1LE. Big brakes (already an option on the SS), performance exhaust and CAI, and a lowering kit are definitely more SS related than a 1LE package like before. With all the talk about the SS spoiler and down force, I seriously doubt we will see a blade spoiler on the 1LE either.

The biggest issue from reviews with the SS is the oversteer. It gets loose in the back end while pushing through the corners.

I have a feeling this might be one of the aspects they address.

Very cool news. I figured they would release the Z first and then the 1LE. Going to be an interesting next two months. I hope this 1LE includes a small power bump in addition to the suspension and brake upgrades. GT350 would be a tall target with the Z aimed at the 350R but with the performance of the standard SS I think they can do it.

This is what the 5th gen 1LE came with for only $3500.

Upgraded TR6060 6-speed manual, quicker steering box, transmission cooler, larger front and rear sway bars, ZL1 end links, ZL1 rear shock mounts, ZL1-style 20×10 and 20×11 wheels with Goodyear Eagle SuperCar tires in 285/35/20 size, upgraded brakes, plus a set of 3.91 gears sat out back. It also featured a matte black hood wrap, along with a suede wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
The 1LE did not come with upgraded brakes. They were the same as the SS just red calipers.

While gearing was improved the stock 1LE suspension is not made for drag racing. Just punching it full throttle even with traction control on induces a ton of wheel hop. Just ask the few 1LE owners on here who have snapped an axle. (Didn't happen to me). The 1LE exceeds in handling, and the sixth gen 1LE should take it to the next level.

I would like to see six piston front brakes as part of the package. $3000 for a dealer made brake upgrade is rediculous. Also would like to see some type of performance seat available for all models separate from the 1LE package. Really looking forward to this reveal though I doubt I'll be upgrading my 1LE.

You do realize the GT350 TP is actually neck and neck with a '16 SS right? Be sure to look at this thread.

I'd still give the GT350 TP the advantage, but it is certainly not a tall target to beat.

We at least know that these cars can fit 335 rear tires. At least that's what the performance car has.

The Z06 and Viper ACR performed similarly in the same tests but the ACR curb stomped the Z06 around Laguna Seca.

Exactly. Instrumented tests are not the end all be all.

Aero really doesn't show in those tests. And the GT350 has about as much aero as the SS. R definitely has more, but still no where near what the ACR has. And considering we still haven't really seen comparison of track times of an SS and GT350TP, there's no reason to believe there is that much of a difference.
