I received an e-mail from David (Chief Instructor), this morning. They are looking to open up some more 1 day HPDE-1 slots.

If they do and you hear about it please let me know. I'm still interested in Saturday only. Can't do Sunday because of family commitments.

grrr i got a crack on the window today from a rock chip. need to get that repaired asap.

There is some small opening up for Saturday. However, Sunday single days are more wide open.

Well I'm out. Two things happened recently that prevents me from attending.

1. Windshield cracked (repaired for 500)

2. Right front tire has a nail in it. Shops won't patch it because it's a Run flat tire.

Anyone know a shop in NOLA that can illegally patch a run-flat Goodyear Eagle Asym-3?

Yes and it is FREE! You have to sign a waiver. I am easy to find. In the paddock, I'll be near the fence where two awnings are put up with most of the instructors. I am equally easy to find on the track. I am the slow car that has to give point bys to turtles.

How was it? I'll definitely attend the next event. A series of unfortunate incidents prevented me from attending.

1. Windshield crack $500
2. Passenger front tire nail $25
3. Passenger rear tire punctured by 2 inch shrapnel $380.

All within 2 weeks.

Cold in the morning and very windy. The track was wet in places and caution was demanded. The surface remained a bit cold and a little bit slippery the entire day. There were a lot of accidents. So much so that things ran 30-45 minutes behind schedule. Even as things improved in the afternoon, I was never close to running a good time. 2:12 was my best and 2:15 - 2:18 was more the norm.

The good news is that I am now cleared for HPDE-2.

I had to miss it. Sounds like conditions were rough. I will have to get back on track next year and get out of HPDE-1 myself.

When you say a lot of accidents, do you mean off track excursions, or actual contact? Hate to hear there was contact with cars or barriers. That is a good way to ruin an HPDE event.

This was a tougher day. There were off-track and spins in HPDE-1 and -2. There was contact in the "Race" class. TT had some contacts, too. There were larger groups in Lightning and Thunder Race classes. The 175-180 cars were evenly split between NOLA folks and the Texas folks that came over for the weekend.

That's a lot of cars. Congrats on moving to HPDE-2 and on keeping it between the lines and off of the other cars.
