Hey, how bout a ZL1 Z28?

anyone still want to tell us how this car had no S/C whine and must be some new unicorn N/A engine. This is the exact car I thought we would see but I thought it would be called a ZL1.R or a Z/28. The 1LE naming was an interesting surprise.

There are very few zones of acceleration towards the camera in those videos. And that's the only time we would hear it.

And of course, there was a healthy dose of wishful thinking.

But I heard it!! You all convinced me otherwise for a while.

GM filed a trademark for LTX in September. In all honesty, its most likely the replacement for the LSX crate motor.

No, it's definitely the supercharger.

I never did hear the whine in the videos but obviously some did. Must be my 63 year old ears and the hearing loss from too many years in rock bands and too much time shooting guns.

Or possibly the 'ring cars that - for many - had no whine are yet to be fully revealed but that's very unlikely IMHO.

I also said that Chevrolet would not put the LT4 in a different Camaro (like a Z/28) but that the 'ring cars could very well be test mules for a new trim version ('ZL1-R', etc). I never thought they would tag the 1LE moniker on it though. The 1LE is a definite monster and I'm happy to see GM make it available.

Either way, I do hope we see a 6th Gen Z/28 but one that is affordable and N/A. If not, it's far from the end of the world.

I heard it...but only in two instances...and only in one of the several videos that made it to the internet.

The interesting thing about supercharger whine is that the pitch is SO high, yet quiet...it is dramatically affected by the doppler effect. AND, you can only hear it under near to full throttle from far away (like the 'Ring videos were taken).

So...that means the car needs to be ACCELERATING TOWARDS the camera to catch it: There's very few instances of that in the videos. Most shots are of braking into a corner, and/or accelerating away from the camera.
