Camming the SS

Has anyone thought about getting their SS cammed? I haven't even ordered mine yet, and want to do this. Not sure what kind of gains would be improved upon, but the lope/sound alone is worth it to me.

The LT1 is pretty under-cammed like the LS3/L99 but the cost involved will be substantial like the L99...probably in the $3,000-$4,000 range with install and tune.

It is a pricey "upgrade" for sure.. thankfully I know a few people in the performance field that will work with me on the cost (with a few 12 packs of beer involved). Plus, I'll get to learn how to wrench on the car as well, to again bring the cost's down. I'm not very engine savvy, especially since most of the vehicles I've owned were foreign, working on them was like putting together furniture from Ikea.

Direct injection definitely increases the cost over the LS3 but the gains should be excellent. We're looking forward to camming a 6th gen soon. I can't decided on going NA or Heartbeat SC.

All the best,

For a good idea, take a look at the NA engine packages for the LT1 C7 applications from the big dogs, like Lingenfelter, and Katech. They each seem to have 600+ HP packages without boost.
