In my 2011 Camaro 2LT V6 RS, I hit 145 on I-82 in Ware County, GA. Let me tell you. That highway is like 15 miles long of nothing but a straightaway. That's my go to pulls. No cops late at night either lol

Top speed according to the brochure for the V-6 is 149 mph.

Do our cars not have Redline?

pretty sure the top speed is artificially limited to 149. Plenty of power and gear left to rocket past that. Just needs someone to throw the appropriate rubber on and take it to the salt flats

The Gen 5s were set with a factory limit of 155. I assume the Gen 6s are limited the same way at 149. You need a tune to get around it I'm guessing.

my comment had to do with the fact that the rubber you have on stock just isn't rated to go much faster than 149 without potentially catastrophic failure. So anyone who does intend to hit those speeds should have some that is rated for it. |

I have only briefly been at 138 or so, but didn't want to stay there more due to the wear and heat the tires would have to take. (I have a non-RS). That said, there is a new toll road somewhere in Dallas that is a wonderful place for a late night run on smooth payment.

I've been to 170mph (GPS) a few times on motorcycles.

I can tell you mine hit 155 twice on the dyno. Had to goto 4th to get pull power read of 269 rwhp. I'm sure with the governor removed they would easily hit over 160 - 170.
tires might explode at that point though. |

They would surely go that fast on a dyno (with limiter removed) but not on the street. Too much air to push and not enough HP.

I've seen videos of 5th gen un-modded v6 rs's doing over 150. The 2016 should easily hit 160-170 without a limiter with just air drag to deal with.

When I shifted to 6th it was like putting on the brakes. Just too tall of a gear to pull at that amount of drag. I seem to remember that drag increases as the square of speed and another 10 MPH will require a lot more HP at those speeds. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.

Do you think I might have gotten a lemon? Maybe I should take it back?
