When I open the door, I push the trunk button and plug in the charger which is next to the car.

Regarding tendering my ZL1, I am having difficulty following these threads.
Could someone please:
1. show me where under the hood I can connect both positive and negative cords to charge/tender the battery
2. let me know how I can remove the side cover in the right hand side of the trunk to access the full battery - not the small cover which I already did and exposes such a little hole that only a 5 year old could fit in the trunk to access, but the entire side cover so I can actually access both terminals

Thank you!!
Rob

Check your manual for jump-starting. That should show you where to connect the leads. Same place. The terminals are marked + and - and located right next to the fuse box at the front of the engine bay on the passenger side. They are really "out in front" and you shouldn't have to check the manual, but in case, that's where you should find it.

Connecting my trickle charger to the battery works great but I could never get even a 50% charge using the under hood points.

1) Post #23 shows you exactly where to put it. Other than that, a few others have said exactly the same thing. You can also refer to your manual and it'll show you the same thing that's been mentioned in this thread.

2) If you can't access the battery terminals from the access cover then you'll need to take off the entire right side cover. Just get on YouTube and search for replacing a battery for a 6th gen Camaro. It doesn't matter the model as ALL 6th gen Camaro's have the battery in the exact same spot. Then connect the tender, or everything back on and route the tender cables through the access cover.

Depending on your battery charger/maintainer it’s kind of like trying to blow through a 6 foot straw or a 1 inch straw, gauge and distance is all relevant with electricity. That’s why I prefer going to the horses mouth when maintaining. The lugs upfront are a convenience for boosting in events of a dead battery. That’s why I only require a 1 amp battery tender instead of a 10 amp

I just hooked up my battery tender to the terminals under the front hood and it's charging fine.

I'm not sure 100% charge is healthy for a battery anyway, but the whole idea is trickle charge. You just need enough volts to force a small amount of amps in there. This isn't for charging dead battery in 30 min, it's just for supplying some current to keep it from draining due to the normal parasitic charges. If you are requiring more amps, something is probably wrong.

You are going to get the same amount of electricity to the battery from the front as you would at the battery. The more the amps, the faster it'll charge. A trickle charge is just that, enough to keep the battery charged and not sobering that's meant to charge a battery fast and efficiently like a battery charger.

This is what I do and have done for years. It always works for me, too!

The resistance in the battery cable is probably < 0.1 ohm.
