Thermostat Not Working. Fan Never Shuts Off

First off happy new year

I have a 2017 SS. 45k miles

Drove to work this morning, got out and noticed what sounded like an airplane (thought it was the car in front of me)

But the sound was coming from my car. The fans don't seem to shut off even when the car is off.

I started the car and drove and noticed on the digital gauges on the dash all moved except for the Thermostat.

Can this be a fuse? Or probably something more serious?

I'm taking it to the dealership after work but was curious for answers in the meantime. Thanks

Try and replace it yourself if you can. The dealer will charge $$$.

Why the whole assembly? Can't you just replace the thermostat like we used to?

Rockauto has part #15-11113 for $39.89

I recently had the same issue on my wife's 2020 Blazer. In addition to causing the fan to go into high mode, it also shut off the A/C compressor and power steering assist. Fortunately, it was still under power train warranty so the dealer fixed it. I looked into fixing it myself but on the 3.6L it is a pain to get to. If it ever fails again, I'll breakdown and replace it myself.

When mine did that it was a faulty coolant temp sensor.

tstat gets dexcool gunk buildup if you let the coolant levels get low... this keeps it from closing when it should. if it stays open too long, it triggers low temp mode where the ecu doesn't trust the sensor or the tstat and defaults to safest action to reduce engine damage.

you might be fine just removing the tstat and cleaning it, to remove the dexcool film.

I'd try that first before changing the sensor if you don't have an odb2 device.

if you do have an odb2 reader, you can tell if the sensor is bad by just reading it there... if it is giving you actual measurements the sensor is good.

When does the manual say to change the coolant?
Then I’d do the thermostat as well.
