Tony Mamo V2 PTB Review

Hey guys, wanted to give a shout out to Tony Mamo. I ordered his V2 TB as part of my recent build because I had heard it made a world of difference with response and drivability. Honestly, I never knew just how crappy the stock unit was until I drove with his installed. Response is crisp - when I demand WOT, I actually get it, no goofing around and pondering what the driver wants like the stocker. I have driven it for about 500 miles now and in every situation I've run in to, it was on top of what my foot wanted. To me, that alone is worth the cost.

So my tuner didn't run back-to-back dyno pulls to directly compare the stock with Tony's like he was supposed to. I am trying to get that worked out now and will post real world results when I have them. But if it made 2 more hp or 15 more, I'd still be happy with it given how much better it drives. Thanks Tony for a great product!!

Also wanted to add that his communication with me as a customer was stellar.

Do you think it would be a good spend on a completely stock LT1?

I have a Mamo V2 on my otherwise stock '18 1LE. It made a world of difference in how the car feels in daily driving and on the autocross. Throttle response is much crisper. The dead spot on tip-in is gone, so taking off from a stop is much easier. The engine feels to pull easier at the upper RPMs. If it makes more power, which I'm sure it does but I do not dyno graphs or drag slips to compare before and after with, it is overshadowed by the feel you get from the increased throttle response. FWIW, I manually set my suspension, and steering an drive in Sport or Track mode for the more linear throttle curve program. I did my first autocross with this TB this last March and it performed very well. It was a 2nd gear course and my RPMs after the start never got below 2500 and peaked at 6300 and I never felt a hiccup anywhere and as I said before, it pulled harder up to the peak RPM like never before. I am very happy with the product. I'm supposed to be at the track in 2 weeks so we will see how it goes then, assuming they let us run.

My car is an A8. Referencing the other guy’s mention of tip in, he is so right! Mine has a fairly big cam in it so tip in needs to be smooth and reliable from a start. You just tap the throttle and it goes, no muss no fuss. Don’t know what he does to them but I am pleased. Hopefully we’ll have some comparison dyno numbers to boot soon, if my shop takes care of me... we shall see about that one.

My understanding is the MAF will detect any flow changes and the ECM will compensate with additional fuel. No tune is required since it isn't a large change like cam or heads, so the computer can adjust. This TB's advantages are two-fold, a little extra power and the much better throttle response.

Another satisfied customer here. Installed Mamo TB and noticed incredible throttle response across RPM range. I have a manual and it feels so much smoother and quicker off the line. Just look at the quality of porting on the TB, I think he personally put the work on each of his TBs. Thanks Tony!

Thumbs up

I purchased the www.solerengineering.com Throttle Body and controller , fast shipping and top notch customer service. infinite amount of throttle positions from stock to ludicrous speed.

It might be, you could probably sell the V1 fairly easy and pay the difference for an even better TB. That's the fun of upgrades, there's always a better product around the corner. I'd say if you're satisfied with the performance of the V1, stay with it. But if you have to have the best - sell your V1 and get the V2. It is technically better and flows more CFM.

I'll talk to Tony. Imagine I can send V1 back for some credit at least on a V2. I'll share what I learn.

This is a good post for guys looking for more data and better pictures to compare

While it is an LT4 comparison Im still confident an LT1 powered car would compare in a similar fashion with more power everywhere.....just not quite as much as the LT4 which is a little more hungry for airflow

Im betting its 10-12 peak on an LT1 powered car and solid area under the curve gains.....I should have some LT1 dyno info soon enough but everyone has been really pleased.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-the-dyno.html

Email, PM or call if you guys have any questions.....the new V2 is being offered at $450 for a short term promotional price.

Also Im working on getting them up on my site so if you want a V2 now type of thing order it direct through me or wait till you see the V2 product up there.....should be done by the weekend at the latest.

Lead times are a week to ten days.....maybe sooner....just depends on when you place your order and the work flow through the shop at that point in time

Cheers,
Tony
