Suspension/alignment question
I’ve Upgraded my 1le suspension to the z28 suspension kit. This car is a daily driver first and a track day car when the opportunity presents itself. The wheels are the stock 20s.
What alignment specs do you guys suggest? Do I use the 1le specs or the z28 specs or is there a spec for a nice balance between track and street? Thanks! |

Front -2.0 camber, toed out .125 degrees
Rear -1.0 camber, toed in .125 degrees. If you get more track oriented max the camber out. You'll get -2.5 to -2.8 in front and -1.5ish in back. No camber doesn't wear tires out like you'd think. Excessive toe wears tires out. Running at .125 degrees isn't enough to accelerate the wear much.

Funny how track and strip recommendations are so different.

for the last version of JPSS's recommended alignment specs. I asked about the rear total toe note and JP said that was for Z-28 bushings. |

You will not like a car with toe out in the front, especially on crowned roads. I went thru this years ago with my car which was 90% street and 10% road course use.
I settled on front camber 1.8 to 2.0 degrees each side negative front toe .1 degree each side positive (toe in) caster is fixed unless you do some mods, I believe mine was right around 8 degrees positive. rear camber .7 to 1.0 degrees negative (you may need different camber adjustment bolts if car is lowered) rear toe .1 degree each side positive (toe in) Try to get the thrust angle as close to 0 as possible.

Thanks fellas! I had to go with the z28 street specs. The car was just about done when I received the first reply to my post. I will keep everyone’s response in mind as I get more track time and more experience. So far, the z28 suspension is amazing. It remains flat during aggressive turns but the ride is compliant. Steering is razor sharp. The 1LE suspension was great but the z28 kit is on another level. It’s a whole different car. I can’t wait until my track day next week.
Thanks again. |
