Michelin PS4 vs. Stock ZL1 tire width

Do the Michelin PS4 tires run slightly narrower then than stock ZL1 supercar 3 tires? Thanks in advance

assuming that your talking about the same size tire for both. I don't think they are narrower. by the size specs, they should be the same.

Yes Comparing a 305 PS4 to 305 stock width. I thought I read they are a little narrower.

Tire rack usually lists section width, fairly accurate.

This is what always confuses me. Although sect. width may be the same tread width is different.
Is tread width the overall width of the tire which means the Michelin would be a tad narrower?
Maybe because the edges or diff?

There is two measurements,

  • section width ( wide part of tire, ie belly )
  • thread width, where rubber meets the road.

Nice Diagram.

Yes, the PS4S tread width is typically narrower for an equivalent size.

I have been doing some testing to see what the biggest more like widest tire I could run on the front of my ss with the widest tread width. I look at tire rack constantly lol. I think they are very close. I did a test with the good year stock 275/35/20 and a lexani 295/35/20. I put the tire pressure the same and tried a 10.5 rim and the stock 9.5 on the Lexani. I then put down a line of baby powder and drove through it one time. The good year was 8.25 and the Lexani was about 9.3/8 on both wheels. About a 1 inch gain over the gy but I still don't know what tire to go with. I think warm and driving that it would be close to the 9.5 on the goodyear that they rate it. One site says its 10.5 on the gy no way lol. The section width does decrease on the 9.5 rim vs the 10.5 with the 295/35/20 but tread width stayed the same at 32 psi. The same off set of 20 the 10.5 wheel would rub the little rubber tit that sticks down on the strut. Had about 2.75 mm clearance, with the 9.5 rim it was about 5mm. This tire is rated at 28.1 tall where the stock gy is 27.6. Im thinking the 295/30/20 at 27 tall would go under the strut Maybey.
