Looking up some numbers the SS 1LE killed the C6 GS around motor trends figure 8. Surprising to see that. However the C7 GS beat the C7 ZR1... according to these numbers. So take it for what you will.

Depends.

I bought a new '16 2LT C7 and traded it in last year for a '17 50th 2SS convertible. Don't regret the decision as it's a much better car to live with day to day. It's my 3.5 season DD, if there is snow on the road, it sits, otherwise, I'm driving it.

I love the C7, amazing car. But it's just compromised as a DD here in New England. I miss looking at it, for sure. But the Gen6 is a sharp looking car, and it's got 90-95% of the performance, without the hassles.

If it's your DD, get the Gen6. If it's your Sunday driver, keep the C6.

Good luck.

Also do you want a coupe or convertible?
I would start defining that question before proceeding.
Gen 6 Camaro is a great car in both coupe and convertible trim.
I have owned base Z51 C6s. Two of them. I enjoy the new Camaro more.
Handles as good or better. Interior far improved. Chassis is stiffer. Less road noise.
Easier to live with on daily basis - parking, going in or out driveways, speed bumps. Etc
Mine isn’t a true DD but i do drive it all the time and all over the place.

All I can say is I went from an 09 Z06 to a 17 1LE and I don't regret it one bit. The Z was way faster but the Camaro wins in every other department

I made the move from the Corvette to the SS Convertible. I don't regret it at all. Actually, I had a C5 and 2 C6's (vert and coupe). . .I also modified two of the Vettes heavily.

Comparing the 06 Corvette to the new Camaros isn't really that close. All of the features of the newer Camaro is just heads and shoulders above the 06...

To me, though it comes down to other questions that are more important. The real questions that I would ask:

1. Do you need the back seat (I had two kids, so wife was not ok with me getting another Vette)?
2. Do you want the convertible?
3. Have you compared options for the new Corvettes and the new Camaros?
4. If the '06 isn't paid off, should you pay off or get more debt?

There are deals everywhere so it would seem to me that you might want to narrow down both the reason for change (newer tech, better performance, new ride, kids in back, tired of convertible road noise, etc). Based on your answers, you will probably know the right answer for you.

I absolutely loved my '06 when it came out. One of my personal favorites I have owned.

Just a few thoughts. Good luck with the decision.

I was between getting a used C6 or a new camaro. Went with the camaro just because I can take it on the 2 hour drive to the beach with the dog, the lady, and a trunk full of stuff for the weekend. I do like the way the corvette looks better but performance wise between a 1ss and a standard c6 seems similar.

Yikes. I was going to say the exact opposite. There's not a single iteration of any vehicle whatsoever that I would consider a convertible or even removable hardtop on. That is hands down the biggest deal breaker ever. I'd actually take a hardtop 4 cylinder before I got within spitting distance of a convertible ZL1.

Personally, to the OP, I would get rid of the Corvette, largely because it was a convertible but, you seem to be ok with that. I'm glad to see you considering a hardtop Camaro to replace it, also. I don't know if you mentioned it or not but, is this a 2SS trim? Performance doesn't seem to be your focus at all so, I'd imagine that the luxuries are what you're after, yes?

I’ve owned both a c6 very and a z06 and now have a supercharged 2017 1le. I absolutely love the 1le. I’ve owned a dozen corvettes in my 52 yrs and none were as fast as the camaro. The 2008 z06 handled about the same as the 1le.

So it all depends on what you need the car for. I have a 700+rwhp C7 that I absolutely love. Here in Norcal that 7 speed is a bear to commute with so the car sits 95% of the time. Saturday I drove up to Socal and picked up a 17' 2SS with an A8. I commuted it today and got 25.8mpg. Not once did I get on it. I wanted to see how well it would get in traffic and I was impressed. If you can handle commuting your Vette it is a superior car IMO if you are looking at practicality. Camaro hands down. Good luck you are in a good place either way
