Can Apex do 18” ZL1 1LE widths and offsets that clear the brakes? 18x11 +11 and 18x12 +41

Not sure this really matters compared to all the benefits of running smaller 18s, but has anyone thought about or have data regarding how much more heat will be going into the rims when they are so close to the brakes? Idk how the rims will handle the heat and how much more heat they will keep in the brakes with less space for airflow.

I have a set of 19s now and would like to go to 18s eventually, but I feel this is a legitimate concern as even with 20s the rims get pretty hot.

Currently they don't do 18x12... but I have told them on FB it's something people want... Maybe in the future.

that doesn't appear to be a stock strut could that impact the fitment?

It’s a zl1 1le stock coilovers. Same bolt on design as any stock lt, ss or zl1.

Wider 18" wheels are something that can be a possibility in the future for sure.

Regarding the wheel picture above, the strut assembly itself is not main the problem with fitting wide 18" wheels. You have to grind down the knuckle a bit first before you even get to the suspension clearances. More information on that can be found at the bottom of our 6th Gen fitment guide: https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide

Sorry, missed this. Yes the barrel of the FL-5 is the same as the EC-7 and SM-10 so they will fit, but certain sizes and offsets will be tight due to the lip design, meaning the spokes will be close to the caliper. Personally I would go with an ET30 or larger offset wheel and run a small spacer if you had to.

For a ZL1 1LE (18x11 +11, 18x12 +41), do you have anything now or coming for sure? Obviously would need to clear the larger ZL1 brakes.

I couldn't imagine that the wheels holding up to the heat being an issue. Most wheels that are flow formed or forged sustain temps way higher in manufacturing than what our brakes output.

Hi, there is nothing in the pipeline at the time for an 18" wheel in those specs. If you needed something now, my best recommendation would be to run our EC-7 18x11" ET25 up front with a small spacer and then 18x11" ET44 in the rear, with centering rings. Clearly not exactly what you wanted, but at least a budget-friendly and lightweight option.

I mentioned it in another thread, but we will look into doing a small run of wider 18" wheels for you guys. It would not be a 2019 thing though, just being honest.

This is correct, non-issue for the wheels. Tire temps might increase a little, but that's a big maybe and something you'd be hard pressed to notice, if at all.
