Well with the engine out of the front, I suspect there might be significant leg room in the C8 or least more than the C7. I don't know how many times I accidently hit the trunk release with my knee getting in and out of the thing.

The closest car performance wise in the Porsche lineup is the GT3. Base price for that is $143,000. No one drives away in a base car and Porsche options are ridiculously expensive. Even at a drive away price of $80-85,000 the Vette is a winner. It was likely built to be a GT3 fighter.

The ZLE is already 2 sec faster around the ring than the GT3.

I will buy a certified pre-owned low mileage C8 in a couple of years and sell the ZL1. Save some bucks!
I doubt it will soar that much. At under $60K, it will still be more expensive than a base C7 Stingray which has a $55K MSRP. Last I checked, the Z51 package was not that expensive. So a base model with Z51 should only be around $65K. An optioned out C8 with Z51 might hit $75 - $80K considering that a C7 in that same configuration is around that price. But regardless, I think even the standard base C8 will beat a C7 Z51 and even the standard ZL1 around a track. I think it'll quarter mile around mid to low 11s.

I decided to go ahead and put in a reservation request. I assume the dealership that I chose will be contacting me tomorrow. I'll be ready to buy in July 2020 once the Hellcat lease is up. As long as the numbers look good and I can get a fully optioned one at a decent price.

At this point, I’m thinking I’ll keep my ZL1 and in a couple years, after the bugs are out, I’ll trade my C7 for a C8.

I’m with a lot of you guys; have bought a lot of 1st year cars and only had headaches over them or buyers remorse when they started perfecting them and upgrading them years later. Also, I love the looks of this ZL1– it’s muscle car and brute force with some room for us bigger guys.

Heck at this point I am thinking the deal will be on the 2018-19 C7 Z06 cars that people will be taking a beating on to get a C8.

Dont get me wrong, I am drooling over the C8 and it is on my radar for in 3 years, but a nice modded 18-19 C7Z will also hit the spot as well.

I’m sure tons of ppl will be trading in their C7s to grab a C8. I think the C7Z and C7ZR1 manuals will be the car to keep due to they will not be making a manual anymore. For the purest, this is a must have option. I personally have no desire for the manual and think the A10 and now the DCT8 are a thing of beauty.

The ZL1 and the C7 Stingray both would be nearly as quick as the new Vette if they also had a DCT.

I was able to get a build in, yesterday. It is often too busy and you get an error message.

My 3LT with MRC built out at $84K. Advertised 1/4 mile time is 12.0 seconds.

What side provided u with build pricing and times? I built one out on Chevy site, but didn't show either.

I would keep my 17 Zl1 and get a 2021 perhaps as a DD, and pass along the Daytona 392 to the wife since she likes 4dr cars

Where did you see the option prices? I wasn't aware that they had released pricing for them yet.

The 1/4 mile time of 12.0 floating around isnt from GM, it's an "estimate" that Car and Driver put in their article.

You're building a 2019 C7.

The first thing I thought when I saw the C8 was, "I want one, and I can make it happen"!

Then I started looking at it a little closer and began to consider the real world applications.

1.) The interior/cockpit looks awfully tight, small, cramped. Also, since baby made three, I simply need a three passenger vehicle. This car is for single people. The lack of luggage space makes it a short drive car.

2.) Maintenance and mods is going to be a nightmare. The engine looks like it is crammed or wedged in there pretty tight. Not a lot of room for sticking hands or wrenches in there. Not to mention reaching over the bay just to get at it. Getting a CAI on will be hard enough, not to mention spark plugs or headers.

3.) This car isn't going to be exactly stealthy. People and the LEOs are going to see you coming several miles away. Its going to stand out wherever you park it, drive it, or use it. There isn't an autoban in America.

If anything the C8 reveal just made me want a ZL1 even more.

All fo that being said. OMGosh! The corvette just became an exotic. Now every one who could afford a corvette can have a super car. If this C8 even lives up to reasonable expectations (handles, stays cool, doesn't start falling apart). Its going to be great.

From what I've read and listened to, the cockpit is at LEAST a bit larger and roomier than the C7 cockpit.

Stealthy? Who cares?
