In general, I agree with the sentiment that dyno or 1/4 mi times or it doesn’t count. However, you don’t need a finely tuned butt dyno with my particular problem. It literally is like someone stuck a banana in the tailpipe and it is getting inserted further and further the more you get past 3500 rpm.

I did a rally event last weekend and it was hard to keep up with stock cars. Wrong is wrong and I’m in the camp of narrowing down to a single 3” oriface isn’t going to cut it. FWIW, I did talk to Magnaflow tech support and they concur that I should be looking into another solution for this car with these mods pushing this power.

I don’t but they are easy to find. 3” MBRP, as my exhaust is 3”. From MBRP website.

Ordered them from Summit and they just came. With any luck I’ll get them on tomorrow. I’m thinking they will work great!

Incidentally, if I knew just how much Magnaflow pinched off the inside of that muffler, I never would have bought it. And now that I know what inside looks like I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. As an engineer, I’m disposed to be a math guy. So let’s look at the math: Area = pi * (diameter /2) ^2

So stock 2.5” pipe is 4.9 square inches of area * 2 = 9.8 square inches
Then you upgrade to 3” pipe for better flow which is 7.06 square inches * 2 = 14.12

And then, with this muffler in-line, Magnaflow takes 14.12 square inches of inlet flow and necks it down to 7.06 square inches (less than the flow of your stock exhaust system if you had left it alone…) and then opens it up to 14.12 afterwards. But the damage/restriction is already done. Still shaking my head on who would design such a thing. If they did a 4.25” ovalled center section that would be 14.19 square inches of area and would have worked.

Anyway, cutting that thing out like a cancer tomorrow.
@cw3sf - thanks again for the tip

And I still come back to if it was so restrictive we wouldn't have people making 950whp through it. Even if it was the case, people making that kind of power should be able to remove it and pick up massive power, I just don't see it honestly. A dyno before and after would confirm any suspicion. A lot of exhaust flow calculators say an engine with a dual 3" exhaust is also constrained at 600-700hp depending on which calculator you use and we know that just isn't the case.

There’s people that lose 30rw with the npp closed vs open

Being an N/A guy, that’s a lot

Again, a before and after dyno pull or even a before and after track run would confirm any loss.

Agreed. And I feel like the boost number would be higher than it should vs the amount of WHP put down.

Do you notice a change in boost npp open vs. closed?
