Ted helped me street tune years ago and it was worth it. He'll set you straight.

We street tuned my car then did a dyno pull afterwards and the e85 tune was improved for sure, after tuning from the dyno. I’m sure there are guys that can do great things with a remote tune and only speaking from my experience

You should do both dyno and road tuning. The dyno will tell you where the tune is on a single-gear pull. The road will tell you where the engine tune (and in my case transmission tune) is in all gears, in all load conditions.

Hey everyone, looking for some quick help if possible. I just received my new tune file from JRE. When I tried to write the file, HP tuners is telling me there is a license issue. It’s giving me an option to purchase a license or use my four credits. It’s giving me a lot of blinking red attention signs and telling me that this option cannot be undone. It’s making me think I’m going in the wrong direction. Is that what I’m supposed to select? I bought 4 credits but not sure how many are needed for each “tune” this is confusing and this is not listed in the installation instructions.

Have you ever “flashed” a tune into the car before? Or did you just “read” your existing stock tune so that you could email it to JRE? The first time you flash the car you’ll have to pay for the licensing. This allows your HPT device to flash your cars ECM going forward (unlimited flashes, thankfully lol). But if someone else tried to flash your car with a different HPT device, they would need to license that ECM as well. Hope that makes sense. TLDR: first time flashing (uploading) a tune means you pay to license it.

Thanks for the quick feedback! And thank you Ted for the email…. The reflash went well, and the car started up just fine. This portion confused me and the alerts from HP didn’t help.
Looking forward to doing the data log later this week!

We do not offer canned tuna.

However we do offer custom remote tuning via SCT.

SCT is here. https://jannettyracing.com/products/...x4-power-flash

It is very easy to do

Whether you dyno tune or street tune, it is the experience and attention to detail by the tuner that makes the difference.

I can get exacting results in either situation.

I used the exact same process whether the car is on the street or on the dyno.

In a production atmosphere I can do a lot more in a shorter amount of time on the dyno due to not dealing with traveling to a spot and traffic, finding a place to pull over to make changes.

Street tuning takes longer but the end results can be better in many cases just due to real situation tuning.

Ted.
I like the thought process you've shown here.
Nice response.

All the tunes in my many cars have changed from the dyno to the road to the strip, and it now keeps changing at the strip, and it would certainly change if I raced off the mountain.

It should not change if calibrated properly.

Ted.

We disagree on this point.
