Cheapest place to buy exhaust and Cold air.

I want to order an exhaust for my new upcoming ZL1, I saw a dyno where the Corsa made 10-20 RWHP on an independant dyno.

I would strongly consider the JRE 125rwhp package... you will save $$$ getting it all at once, and these cars run awesome on E50.

Food for thought.

Dont want to tear into motor yet. I just want the best cold air kit, backed by dyno numbers, and catback. Possibly a LT5 throttle body.
I will be happy with 580 rwhp.

A CAI alone isn't going to gain you anything other than more whine from the supercharger. The OEM airbox is good in design and will not get bottlenecked until the 700rwhp mark or higher.

The claims you see from these manufacturers are with hood up dynos. Put the hood down, like how you drive the car, and the gain is minimal. You'll need to tune the car to see anything.

And 10-20 rwhp from an exhaust? Stock tune? Cat back? I don't know about that.

I know what you mean... to be clear, the 125rwhp package is only bolt ons...
Just add headers and E85 to your list + you get the remote tuning...

Food for thought

Specifically - changing the GM catback (CB) will gain you nothing (but sound) until you're around 800-WHP. You said exhaust, so I don't know if you're including CB. If you're talking long tubes (LTs), that's a different matter.

If you're looking for LTs or something, or ANY part - go to the Sponsor List. They support the site, offer great discounts, and can be trusted.

I have spent hours researching dyno numbers and have found a few independent ones showing 10-20 rwhp on cat backs, and cold air kits, so I will roll with those claims and will back up or not my numbers on a dyno when I get my car.
Supposedly getting car within a week, just looking for best place to buy.
Looking at the new Hooker system or MBPR, then a AFE: Momentum cold air kit. As well as a LT5 throttlebody.
Still pricing but my mind is kinda made up due to videos where they showed power gains. I am thinking 25 RWHP with those simple mods, then another 20 when I decide to tune it.

There is no way a cat back, on the stock tune, is going to net a 10-20rwhp gain.

The only performance gain you can get without a tune is a driver mod. But if you want it to sound and look like it's making more power when it's really not, then by all means go for the CAI for whine and engine bay bling and exhaust for neighbor-hating loudness.

Sadly the others are right. There is no measurable HP gains to be had without a tune.

I like super charger whine, so I will put a CAI on my ZL! for sure next year. Love that sound, and once I upgrade for real and do a tune, it will be a nice supporting mod.

I may get an axle back if I decide to wait on headers. I dont love the stock exhaust as its a little raspy, but headers will be inevitable and I'm not sure I will want an axle back when I add headers as it will likely be too loud.

Decisions...decisions, but the recommendations made in this thread are great. Call them on the phone as with some brands they sell, like Borla, they can offer better deals than they are allowed to advertise online.

I've been searching on and off since last night and I'm still doing so on and off from work. I can't really find any videos of a stock ZL1 being dyno'd with a cat back/axle back with or without a CAI that isn't tuned.

I do see a number of SS cars being dyno'd with cat back and CAI with no tune and claiming 40rwhp from those mods....sure guys.

Do what you want but I've just giving you my .02 cents because of all the data that has been collected over the years with the ZL1. I'd go get the car dyno'd, do your mods and redo the dyno to see what gains you get.

But remember, the car will be driving with the hood down......so dyno the car with the hood open and hood down. I bet those aftermarket CAI's gain will be minimal with the hood down.
