Hey guys

I know this is not a home improvement forum and hopefully there is no Tim Taylor around here

My rental includes a garage but right now the floor is quite moist, guess there was no car around for a couple of month before I moved in. What is the best way to 1. get the floor dry and 2. keep it at a reasonable level during winter?

if there is no sealer on it right now, I recommend www.ucoatit.com

If there is a sealer on it already, then I would call up home depot and have them do the epoxy coating.

Trust me.. this is coming from first hand knowledge.. .

Thanks for that but as it is a rental I cant just seal the garage floor. I might be able to deal with the landlord, I dont know how long I'll stay there and if it'll be worth the investment in his eyes though...

I wouldn't seal it or coat it with that much vapor coming out of it.Your best bet is to get a garage mat.Something similar to this http://www.autosportcatalog.com/inde...id=1382&cid=19 , but does not have to be this exact one or this expensive.

You can roll out some inexpensive plastic from home depot and just park on it.

Floor mat or simple foil sounds great. I just put half a bag of kitty litter all over the floor, hopefully that gets away the existing moist.

If you are worried about moisture buy a portable humidifier and put that in the garage. They run on 110v and you can use the reservoir (which you have to empty daily) or run a vinyl hose out through the door or wall. Then it can run continuous. You can but them at a home improvement store like Menards or Home Depot, W.W. Grainger, or McMaster Carr.

Not sure if it is in your budget or not but RaceDeck is a nice alternative to epoxy coatings. http://www.racedeck.com

The nice thing is that you can rip it all apart when you move and take it with you to your next garage. I've got about 800 sq. ft. sitting in my shed waiting for our next house purchase since I've only got a carport at the moment.

ONLY GO COATINGS IF THERE BREATHABLE. IF NOT IT WILL POP OFF THE FLOOR IF THERES TO MUCH MOISTURE

This is the cheap and removable way to go. De-Humidify will draw a lot of moisture, use the hose method.
