Tire spinning on rim

Ok, what are you guys using to hold the tire solid to the rim. My M/T ET S/S drag radials are moving on the Weld rims at 18psi tire pressure. I do not want to drill and screw them, and I don't want to use something that will be a royal bitch to remove, like Permatex.

After 15 1/4 mile runs my tires moved about halfway around the wheel. I am not sure what I am going to do to solve it but for the Z28 I think we knurled the bead of the wheel or something similar. I think there is a local place to me (the same place that did the Z28 work I think) that I am going to try to talk to.

Other idea I had that you didn't mention was to "scuff" up the bead area of the wheel. Like with an angle grinder. This would be a lot like the knurling just cheaper and sloppier.

I will think of something by spring because the out of balance became like a jack hammer.

My Nitto NT05R's did not spin, but they have a larger bead area. Think I'll try to clean the surface to remove any wheel lube they used for install. Maybe try the hairspray trick thing.

Yes, and subs. You?

Having the same issue. Tried the permatex, that didn't work either so don't even bother. When these tires run out I will try the media blast route.

My et streets moved also, even after using bead glue. Run two sets of nt5r's and have never moved. Some tires seem a little looser on wheel when the bead is not seated. Possible problem with Mickey thompson's.

Ya, they stick better... also, think they have a smaller bead area than the Nittos.

I think the difference between the 05R and MT is better traction on the MT. I could spin 315/40/18 05R but the Street R barely spins. I think since the tire grips the bead is the next weakest link.

Could try sanding the inside of the tire rim. Chevy had to do that for the Z28 as it spun the tires on the rim due to grip...

Grind inside of rim and use blowtorch to heat up rubber then set bead at high pressure overnight. Used to do this on 1000hp diesel truck we had. Worked okay but it could still break them loose if you were really trying. Beadlock was best solution
