17 SS Rattles while cruising / braking

I've got alot of rattling sounds that sounds like it coming from the dash. I cant tell for certain but when just cruising it's just a constant rattling sound, almost sounds alittle like static. Anyone else get this?

My car had a rattle I thought was coming from the dash Ended up being the hood release cable where it was laying on the driver shock tower.

This is not a common complaint with these cars. Any wiring work or other mods done on your car? Audio?
A rattle that sounds like "static" coming from the dash might be a fan. Does it change with fan speed?

No mods, all stock. It doesnt change with fan speed, only vehicle speed. Unfortunately my bumper to bumper expired so I have to becareful how far I go to resolve it. I did have service performed both to replace the microphone and also my airbag in the steering wheel came loose and caused all kinds of knocking when turning. Both were repaired under warranty several months ago but I'm worried the last dealer to go into the dash may not have tightened something up properly.

Need4, I’m thinking that the warranty work done maybe the cause of the noise. You could be right that the dealer tech might have left something loose or not tightened enough. I would take it back to that dealer and let them check it since they worked on it, but the noise could be caused by many things and they will say the work that was done is not the cause of the noise! Good luck!

I have the weirdest noise in the dash as well , mine is a 19 SS I read on another post that is was the hood release too, so I put a cable tie hold down and strapped down the cable away from any metal that might be hitting, it is routed right near the back of the firewall and up near the shock tower and was laying right against the firewall, will see if it stops.

Found out what it was.

It came to the point where it got horrible, any bump or rough surface and it would just rattle to hell. Turned out to be the radio. Was a $300 fix.

interesting. Was it something loose in the radio unit itself? or radio static caused by rough road surfaces?
