(it may on an engine dyno) It's not a very reliable system, and especially not if you intend to mod. I work with a guy who's buddy had a GEN6 that sustained heavy motor damage to the top end. It apparently took the cam out, so my guess is it had something to do with the DOD lifters. Pretty sure the M6 cars don't use DOD, but they still get the same lifter arrangement as the automatic cars. If I ever take the heads off I for sure will be upgrading the lifters and deleting anything to do with AFM and likely also the VVT as I assume if I was doing head work I'd also be running an aftermarket cam. Just my $.02.

I am looking for information on what to do. If others had problems with the DOD then it probably would happen to my car as well, maybe not as fast as I don't drive hard though. I am asking for this exact information not learning from others is an ego trip going bad. I have also read many threads on the torque converter problem, general consensus is change it out. I am asking so I can avoid unnecessary things and enjoy the car rather than waste money gst frustrated and want to get rid of it. Please guys post away.

Plus i like the 4 cylinder mode for longer hwy travelling.
I don’t have an auto, but depending on your tire choice, a converter is not going to do anything for you. I’d probably go for an inexpensive roots and forget the converter. I really don’t know on an auto. M6, I like a centri, the car is hard enough to hook. Not a strong preference, I would have done a stock lt4 setup for cheap, but Pray hooked me up good. A tuner is most important decision...

The torque converter is for the shudder problem on the auto's.

hmmmm. I may have to rethink my strategy. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on DD street build based on pro charger & 50/50 meth kit, targeting ~620whp. Is that too much for the street? I drive M6. Should I dial down to under 600? I'm on F1's now but plan on going to Ps4s for my next set of tires. I'd like the ability to keep up with Shellbys and Hellcats, and of course our big brother .

After a late season pulley change on my Whipple, I’m in the 630-640WHP range on the street. It’s definitely not too much, but like others, I’m running the Nitto 555R in 305/35/20 size as well. King’s post above was right on the money IMO.

the 6.48 time was at the track but it hooked decent on the street too. a decent burn out and rolling into the throttle at the right pace and they worked fine. I was at ~750hp back then.

my point is: normal guys with 1/25 of your experience will not have the same or even near same results on a 20” wheel on the street. especially @ 750 hp.

My point is you can run a ton of power on the street if you take the time to learn to drive the car. I go out to a deserted road at 2am and do 20-30 launches to get a feel for what works. Then when it is time to run someone you know how quickly you can mash the gas. It isn’t that hard if you take the time to do it.

Warmed up drag radials are amazing.

The mods in your sig is exactly what i'm looking to do. How much power are you making right now? Are you leaning heavy on meth? 100% or a mix? and how often do you fill up for street use?

Exactly...I have a solid 1/8 mi spot on a concrete industrial road that I test frequently on.

100% Meth. I'd say I'm 600-625rwhp. I went thru 5-6 gallons this year. Single nozzle kit. I thought I actually use more because I'm always looking for trouble.

Just looking for a experienced opinion. How much power can you make safely without fueling issues and other problems. Either naturally aspirated or power adder. Please advise.
