I was thinking even with aftermarket heads (CID, TSP, etc.) you could only get to about 13:1 because even the aftermarket heads didn't have any combustion chambers much smaller than stock. This is of course without having to do bottom end work, but even then I don't think there is many "dome" type piston options and I think you would only get a few cc's with those.

je has a dome piston. using a 40 gasket with a cid head will easily get you over 13:1. i'm curious of ptv without fly cutting. i'm using a small cam but like everyone else i want compression.

Small chamber option with the CID’s starts you off with 56cc. Then mill .060 and you’ve got a 14:1+ depending on the gasket. I’ve got a sbe along with a lot of other guys out there running big compression on sbe stuff. As far as aftermarket pistons go, JE, Wiseco, Mahle, etc allow you get big compression if you wanted.

With my .180 flycuts, I have .090 on the intake side and just over .170 on the exhaust as far as ptv goes.

at what point of milling do the intake manifolds run into fitment issues?

edit: also to clarify... youre running a cid head milled 60 with a 28 gasket? and a gigantor cam.

.060 is your limit before you start to run into fitment issue on the intake manifold.

Yea, .028 gasket and it’s a decent size cam. 27.5* overlap with some lift. But still smaller than the Track Attack cams from GPI, but so far it’s performed just as good as those at 3,640 pounds in 3k DA on the first WOT revision for tuning.

are you using the shaft mount rocker assembly? solid roller cam?

is the shaft mount necessary for a sub 8k rpm hydraulic setup?

I’m using the BSR shaft mounts with a hydraulic. The lobe design is a low shock lobe though. I spin mine to 7800. I got them just for stability and a few other reasons, not that the factory rocker has too much of an issue up there. I just liked them with the LS stuff when I had them, so when they released for the LT stuff I was in it lol.

But shaft mounts are not necessary for sub 8k rpm. Guys like Brandon Hill, Cory and Julie West turn their cars to 8k with the factory ones with a trunnion upgrade. I’ve done several that way for guys as well, with no issues.
