Drive on Texas Motor Speedway
Just found out about this from my buddy who works at the speedway. Speedway Children's Charities charges $40-$50 to drive 3 laps around TMS and get your picture taken in Victory Lane on September 24th!

Hey that sounds pretty sweet. Do they have restrictions like how fast you can go or how many cars are on the track at one time? I assume they don't allow 2 wide or passing. Either way I think it'll be fun to take out the C7 Z06

Yes, you are restricted to about 80MPH and there will be no passing or other shenanigans. Did it a few years ago and was sorely disappointed with the whole experience, really.
If you want to take very leisurely drive around the oval just for the amusement of having had your car on the track is just barely enough fun for the money. The only saving grace is that it is for charity.

Ive always heard that guys with the faster/better handling cars wait till the last lap and just hammer on it. What are they going to do? Kick you out? Finish and leave. But IDK....

I did this a couple of times in my 04 GTO with a group from LS1GTO. As a car group that went out, the first time I hit 145 on the backstretch. Within reason you can lay back and get some decent runs. The second time I went I actually hit my fastest of about 130 comin out of 4. That was intense!
I went once in my ZL1 with a local Camaro car group but got stuck behind someone who didn't want to go and barely hit 110. I wouldn't mind doing it again. |

It can go both ways..ur kind of assigned a line to get into, and then you risk being stuck behind a slower driver or unless you come in a club which usually has kick butt drivers! ..BUT, if it works out, you can exceed over 100, just depends on the group, if they have done this before or not..its a blast and its for a great charity, then you also get the photo for your wall...40 bucks..big deal..go have fun!We have done it in my 2010 Yellow, my wife's 2011 Red, and we will go this year in the Hyper..
