What’s your opinion on sunroofs on the 6th generation Camaro?
What’s this group’s opinions on sunroofs?
I have a 2022 Camaro LT1 on order at 2000 status. I ordered it without the sunroof, and I’m guessing it’s too late to change it. But my thoughts are as follows: 1. I live in south Florida, and I had a sunroof on my last car, an Infiniti Q50. I opened it maybe 2-3 times and then kept it closed with the shade closed for the rest of the time I owned it. It seemed to only make the interior into a sauna during the day with the shade open, and I always felt like driving around with it, something would drop in through the roof. Bird poop, rain, etc. never really had any desire to use it. But so many people seem to NEED one, I am not sure what I would be missing. I drive around town with the windows open, and on the highway I close the windows. 2. I feel like the double-bubble “reverse Mohawk” roofline of the 6th-generation Camaro is a key design element that goes back to other Chevrolet sports cars. My C6 Corvette Z06 has it and it’s such a fantastic part of the car’s shape, I don’t want to give it up. 3. Modern sunroofs are not like the t-tops of old, they don’t really leak and aren’t prone to problems. But still, it would be another thing I’d be paranoid about if the car is sitting in the rain. Did I forget to close the sunroof? Is it cracked open a bit? Will it leak? 4. I’m relatively short, only 5’10, so headroom isn’t a concern either way. 5. Obviously my Z06 doesn’t have a sunroof, and neither does my Foxbody Mustang, and I can’t say I miss it. As for “performance”, chassis stiffness, weight, and weight distribution, I don’t think any of those are affected enough and I don’t want to argue those points. It’s a daily driver, I doubt it’ll make enough of a difference in those factors for me to ever notice. What am I missing here? Feels like everyone wants a sunroof. |

IMO, I like the roof without the sunroof. Just my 2 cents. I also live in Florida and hate driving cars with sunroofs that don't have the shade option, plus I never use them here with air on 24/7 lol. The last two cars I owned had glass roofs, and it was impossible to keep the sun off you.

I just read a bunch of old posts and my conclusion is if you are over 6'2" it might be tight with a helmet. Other then that some complain it changes the looks. I will still order one with one.

There's only one way to do an open top Camaro.
And that's all the way, baby! |

Your experience mirrors mine. Last car I had included sunroof with an options package. I opened it rarely and mostly used the "vent mode" when parked in the sun. That feature I did appreciate.
I did not get my 2SS with a sunroof. I preferred the look without, and I was glad I was not forced to get a sunroof with the 2SS package. My camaro is frequently parked in the sun. I use a sunshade over the windshield and "the cave" doesn't heat up that bad compared to my old sport sedan. |

My SS didn't have one, but my current ZL1 does. It's open whenever I'm in it and the weather permits. A very welcome change. Love it. Gets too bright out or it's sitting in the lot at work? Shade closed. My only switch would be that I wish it retracted into the body but other than, I'm diggin' it.

I'm also in the "no sunroof" crowd for many of the same reasons stated by the OP. And I totally agree with an earlier comment about how nice it was to not be forced to have one because it was bundled into a package with something I did want. Every car I've ever had a sunroof on was because it was mandatory to get the top trim level I wanted for other options - the "a la carte" nature of ordering a Camaro was a very nice change from most other manufacturers.

I hated when the 5th Gen came out without T-Tops and hated the sunroof option. I figured with the retro-look, they would have brought the T-Tops back It grew on me though once the 6th Gen hit! And honestly never thought I'd even be buying a Camaro at all, let alone ordering a brand new one to my specs. When opportunity hits, ya grab that 'ish before the RC cars take over
Anyways... Sunroof ordered! Idk... I think when opened, it gives the car a little more aggressive look. I like the over the top opening vs. the in the roof opening as well for that look. Also just love the option being a windows down, music blaring kind of gal. I want to track the car, but most likely not until 2023 after getting to know the beast a little. And never have tracked a car before, I definitely won't know the difference in weight and handling. I have also come out to 2 inches of rain in my SRX forgetting to close it As far as your post goes, it seems you are more on the 'nay' side and I think you should follow your original gut order. As the process moves you may question options, but you placed the order the way you did for a reason.

Meh. I had to get one because it came with the car. I seldom use it. If I could delete it I probably would. It kind of ruins the look of the non-sunroof top which I prefer.
