Camaro Not Stopping After Brakes Applied

On Saturday I was coming off of the I-8 going East from San Diego to El Cento, stopped at stop sign at the end of the off ramp, made a left turn to head North, then I stopped at the first stop sign after the Freeway. I stopped at the stop sign and with my foot still on the brake the car surged ahead, I re-applied the Brake fully with my foot still on the brake and the car again surged ahead. During this I nearly hit a car in the cross traffic. I continued driving home very carefully. This one more time before I got home. One other problem that has raised it's head is the A-8 shudder upon slow acceleration. I have scheduled a appointment at my local dealership for Friday morning. Any one else having this same problem, please advise.

The shudder is well documented, I haven’t heard of a brake issue...

Try disconnecting the battery to reset the computers, worth a try. Engine is surging for some reason, hopefully its just a developed glitch.

Is there any chance at all that the edge of your foot was catching the accelerator pedal? Wide-soled footwear would be more apt to be involved.

That's happened to me a couple of times in other cars.

My foot was completely on the brake pedal, not touching the gas pedal AT ALL. Car is a A8. I have also been driving cars, mainly Automatics since I was 15 years old, I am now 63 years old so I do believe that I do know what I am doing.

The brake and accelerator are fairly close on the C6 Camaro. I found myself pressing on the gas sometimes while on the brake....it happens...

i took my Camaro to my local the Dealership yesterday morning. I explained the problem that I was .having with my Camaro to the Service Manager. Once they had taken my Camaro back to the service area the person who was working on my vehicle came to talk to me in the waiting area. He informed me that my car had the A-8 Shudder. I asked about the brake issue and I was told that the Shudder and Brake issue were related and that they would need to do a Triple Flush on my Camaro to correct the problem. The Dealership took most of the day to work on my Camaro and when I picked it up. My Camaro so far seems to run a lot better then it did then before I had taken it in. So if you have the A-8 Shudder or issues with you car wanting to go after fully stopping at a Stop Sign or Light, you may need to have the Triple Flush done to your car.

You might want to take a look at your invoice to check which TSB the dealership performed. The triple flush was an older recommendation for fixing the shudder that has been superseded by 18-NA-355 as of early 2019.

This is the latest procedure as far as I know, and it prescribes the use of the new (Jan 2019) blue label Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP fluid, part number 19417577 (the PN may have changed in the meantime).

The Bulletin that was used by the Service Department was NO. 18-NA-355 to correct the problem on my Camaro.

File a sudden unintended acceleration complaint on the NHTSA site. If there's a trend, they'll investigate it @ GM.
