I did not check the oil pressure when the check engine light went off and it said "reduced power mode".
Did everything get resolved to you satisfaction? I apologize if I missed it.

No worries, no I did not provide any updates.

Yes the Katech Oil Pump was installed, it's actually the stock GM oil pump housing with some new internal parts that replace the weak ones. It's even shipped in a GM box haha. The dealership was great about it; my car took up a hoist while waiting for the oil pump to arrive.

I now have a brand new OEM oil pump I'm trying to sell to Katech since I'm not sure who else would want one.

Did you ever take a look at your door jam for the production date?

The Katech LT4 pumps in their pictures show a new blue-anodized CNC aluminum cover. Did yours not look like that?

Mine failed. a late 2017 model SS with maggie.
For those with symptoms such as approx 20 psi oil pressure after warm-up at idle without any other obvious symptoms - except for a very faint rumble sound at idle, very likely the pump cracked inside. I was lucky to catch it in time and seemed to crack clean, no pieces floating around.

I wonder if part of the problem is owners getting on the throttle too early before the oil is warmed up. This has been a contributor to problems on several other (M and P) cars.

When I see idiots jump in their car and floor it out of the driveway/parking lot I always cringe. Worst thing you can do for your engine.

Maybe if on 15W50 oil.. but on 5W30, nah, that unlikely failure mechanism.

Is there a TSB for this issue?

I bought a 2019 with a Dec. 2018 build date. I am hoping I have the updated pump. THere were changes made at some point. My sources tell me this was an early issue and changes were made some addition chamfering on some parts etc.

I agree this can be a reason in some cases. Oil pressure is also higher during warm-up cycle. A recipe for disaster!!
My car has 110'000km on it and this is my first mechanical problem (except for the shudder issue which was fixed with the triple flush).
I also noticed that very few SS models are having the problem. I believe the increased pressures with a supercharger are the determining factor - mine has the Magnuson 2300.
Just last week, my mechanic dropped the pan, installed the Katech pump (blue label). It's great to see oil pressure at around 33 psi again at idle. However, now I find oil pressure increases very rapidly and maybe too much - not sure... I was testing the car out today and oil pressure climbed to 73psi at 4500rpm. I sent Katech some logs and they indicate all is normal. I wonder if anybody else is getting higher than normal oil pressure with the Katech blue label (oem version)??

I think that's normal for the Katech pump. This link is for the red label (dry sump) pump but should be analogous

Man..., I hope you're right. It's certainly true that the provided link identically matches my oil pressure numbers. My only concern is that on the Katech website, they indicate that the blue label wet sump version retains OEM oil pressure. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

Another scenario, katech mixed parts from the scavenger red version and placed into the OEM version I purchased.

Well shooooooot. I was aware of this thread but just kind of chalked it up to internet talk. I swear the same talk was going on in 1998 after I had just bought a 98. LS1Tech said oil pumps were taking a shit left and right. I never had an issue with my 4th gen, still running the same pump.

I told myself I wouldn't worry about my 2018 until it was time to worry.

About a month ago, while driving my oil pressure went to 0 pretty much instantaneously. Shut it down, had it towed home, troubleshot a few things, and thinking it was out of warranty, figured I'd get to it between 100hr work weeks.

Meh, finally got it to the dealership earlier today and they are going to replace the pump
