HELP - Whipple 2.9 No Copper Washers for SC
I got started on my whipple install on my 2019 ZL1 1LE A10. When I went to bolt SC to the heads I noticed the manual said there should 10 x 6mm washers. Went through the packaging over and over. None to be found. Purchased from Vengeance racing.
Emailed Vengeance but the are out for the weekend and I would like to finish the install this weekend. Emailed whipple but that will take a month.. I was wondering if Whipple is no longer using them and had not updated the manual (since 2017). This is my first whipple install. I was hoping someone out there has gone through an install recently for some incite. Please let me know your thoughts guys! Thanks! |

If you can find an ace hardware that's open they may have the copper washers. If not, you will probably be okay with aluminum or even steel. I can certainly emphasize, can't tell you how many times I've been balls deep in a project only to find that I'm missing a key part. That never seems to happen in the middle of the week, when everyone and their brother is open for business

I would imagine any hardware store will have them. I definitely would not run without them or use any other material...

Thank you guys so much for the responses..
Another observation*is that there are 10 x 6mm o-rings that are included in the kit. Labeled "2-009 V75 O Rings". These are not mentioned in the instruction installation manual that I have seen. There are 10 bolts for the super charger. I am wondering if they have changed*to O-rings instead of copper washers? Which I was hoping someone has done a recent install. |

This is the latest manual sent to me direct from Whipple. Several revs newer then what came with the SC. This one actually shows the second fill location, and talks about removing the lid before installation.
If you bring it up and do a find search on it, you will see what I have seen. There is no place it mentions any of the 10 6mm orings (2-009 V75 orings). Please let me know if you seeing something I am not. I am making notes to the manual to help others down the road doing the install themselves. |

My version of the manual did mention removing the lid before installation and it also mentioned the copper washers. My Whipple was shipped to me in April of ‘19 right from Whipple (custom color) and installed in June, so pretty recent install. I didn’t see any reference to needing the (10) o-rings in any one instance, but there are a bunch of them needed throughout the install (water crossover, for example)?

That was what struck me as odd. Every other o'ring has a place. These 10 are not mentioned anywhere. And since there are 10 bolts that they do fit perfectly for mounting the supercharger down I'm wondering if they either change from washers or messed up on the packing.

Well, whipple got back to me this morning. They switched to o-rings.. They did not update the manual that they sent me..
I will let you know if the torque specs have changed.. |
