General cost of Nitrous installed

I'm looking into getting E85 and Nitrous installed in the spring and was wondering what is a good/fair price to have the nitrous done and by done I mean, buying the kit (nitrous express), installed and Dyno tuned. I've got 2 quotes and they aren't even close to one another so some insight would be nice. Thanks.

If done right, should run you around $4500 installed. Without Tune.

4500 would be insane $ for a N2O kit even tuned. I would figure the cost of the kit, window and WOT switch and add about 4-5 hours labor cost. Then of course the tune and E85 sensor. The big question would be fuel system, that might add a lot. I honestly have no idea how much that will cost or how much HP the stock fuel system will support.

You didn't include the cost of the new engine you will need after.

If the tune is good and someone is not spraying more than 100-150 they will be fine.

Cost of nitrous kit + 6-8 hours of labor.

Hard to put an exact number because you can get a bunch of accessories and drive the price up. How much a shop charges for labor differs from where you are at.

You might have to add the cost of a tune, depending on your situation.

Well the quotes I got were $1500 and $3000 both for everything, purchase, install and Dyno tuned. Both places are reputable places who have done a lot with nitrous. I only looking at a 100 shot and fuel isn't an issue i'm told. It would also include 2 separate tunes, 1 to run the E85 and a separate tune for when the Nitrous is activated. The cheaper shop even said they would tune it with a 125 shot just so the customer knows everything is safe with no issues incase you decided later to bump it up. Seemed like a good idea.

if you're getting other things installed like a WOT window switch , nitrous gauge, bottle warmer, etc then I can see the $3000 with a tune but that makes it a "safe" kit , especially the window switch

Nitrous is very hard on engines- the pistons in particular. I would say better options are turbo charging or super charging if you need that much power.

I was quoted $4K including tune. I decided I almost would rather spend the extra 2-3K and have boost all the time without having to arm and fill a system.

That's a pretty subjective and innaccurate statement. One could easily argue the exact opposite, because you only have increased cylinder pressures when you are spraying, opposed to FI, when you have increased cylinder pressures whenever you are in boost.

Or to sum it up in one sentence:

You might want to get an itemized list for the too, if one is $1500 and the other is $3000.

If it's just the basic nitrous express kit ($900) then your first one is a great deal. They are probably charging you ~$500 for a tune, so a hundred or so bucks for spark plugs and labor? It's almost suspiciously cheap.

The other one is so expensive that they might of taken the liberty to add a few accessories (purge, window switch, bottle heater, etc).

Looking at the nitrous express kit, I would, at a minimum, add a window/progressive controller. If it were my car, I would also get a purge and bottle heater. That's just me.
