AC question

Can someone tell me what the sensor to the left of the pulley for the AC is? When I was replacing the belt the belt developed a twist and came off on the inside of the pulley, maybe damaging that sensor. I unfortunately had to cut that belt and order a new one

I would assume that's what activates it on and off? Since that's the only plug on the compressor

that would be the power to the compressor to energize the clutch

Yep, the main harness for the AC compressor/clutch. I agree, it is a stupid location.

So I’ll know pretty quickly if it’s damaged. Thanks everyone. I hate the stretch fit belts

Good news is the belt went on pretty easily this time. Bad news is the AC is not coming on at all. I must have broke something in that plug. Checked the fuses, no joy. Think I'm going to have to replace the whole compressor now?

Certainly possible. Check the harness end first. I have to replace mine soon as it is leaking from the rear section of the compressor. I found this out after changing all seals in the entire system.

Hopefully you don't, but if so, RockAuto has them at the best price I could find for an AC Delco unit. Only issue with your's is that it is still full of R134, and you can't just vent that to atmosphere.

ACDELCO 1522274 - $188.79

Thanks! Would most likely order the new compressor and take it to a local mechanic I trust to install it because I don’t want to deal
With the coolant. The AC was working fine before i snapped that thing off, now it is completely snapped off. I wonder if a mechanic could just solder it back on? Being optimistic here... for reference, that plug is attached to the back side of the pulley in picture #2. Thanks, you guys have been so helpful

I think the connector comes with the clutch kit that can be replaced separately and without opening the system, if you can find one.

There are a lot of coils on ebay that claim they fit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-A-C-Com....c100005.m1851

That clutch coil looks like the ticket! I wonder why they don't sell something like that on rock auto

I would probably try one of the coils of ebay or maybe see if someone on here had a leaking compressor they replaced that could you could pull the clutch off of and use.
