Transmission hesitating

I have the A8 transmission.

This morning I slowed down & stopped at a light. A few seconds later the light turned green & I stepped on the gas, but the transmission wouldn't engage; the car just sat there. after about 5 seconds of that, it started engaging & the car started moving. This is the first time that's ever happened.

Any thoughts?

Low fluid, check for leaks.

I would say check fluid level, but that is a true PITA...

Maybe change fluid and filter. Key here being plugged filter (read they trap anything larger than 70 micron).

If it was just one time, it may not be anything. Consistent....usually means problem will get worse over time.
