I am the dumbest person alive (also help?)
Sooooo...disconnected the battery in the ZLE in preparation for the Soler TB coming today and without thinking shut the trunk with the battery disconnected.
Unless I'm missing something, on the ZLE my options are now A) Cutting a hole through the rear seat B) Cutting a hole through the trunk lid Would it really have killed them to put a cable release somewhere???? |

if you pop open your keyfob there is a key that you can open the door with
you also have to pop off the cap on your driver side door handle

Is the car locked? What the above poster said to take care of that problem.
Then... The rear seat flips down even on ZLE's...There's a manual release once you're "in there" (Back by the third brakelight if memory serves). Also, if you disconnected the NEGATIVE cable, have someone hook up jumper cables to the connection points under the hood and then pop the trunk. No harm done if the neg cable touches ground. Just be sure to use the neg auxiliary ground under the hood. |

The coupes have a fold-down rear seat that gives you access to the trunk from the main cabin. You should be able to fold down the rear seat and reach the trunk release handle on the trunk lid.
The alternative for people with a dead battery is to pop the hood and connect a jump start battery to the battery terminals under the hood. In your case this could be dangerous if you left the positive battery cable laying in a place that would short out! |

In addition to the thread, the ZL1 1LE doesn't have the typical rear seat release. Looks like you unfortunately have to release it from inside the trunk side. Which obviously does OP no good.

Yes I disconnected only the negative cable on the battery in the trunk. I found the bulletin that sort of shows how you can release the trunk with a tool between the rear of the seat back and the deck lid but I can't find the correct tool or "button" fishing around in there to release it.
So even with the negative disconnected I can hook a jump to the point under the hood and it will power the car so that I can pop the trunk? That is the solution I need if so, I'm going to try it. |

Yes, depress the small button on the side and the "chrome" keychain part pulls out...
Then on the door handle, the small part that's the opposite of where it hinges from pops off. Look under for a small gap to place a non-marring trim tool (or a very steady hand with a screw driver if you must) and pop the little cap off. It sounds and feels scary doing it but it works. Once you pop it off, revealed is a typical keyhole. |

You're not the dumbest person alive, it happens. I've told myself that any vehicle I purchase must have the ability of automatically unlocking if it senses the key fob in the car. I got tired of locking keys in the car in the past.

Just for clarification I had the key and the doors weren't locked, just the trunk was closed.
Since I only disconnected the negative, I pulled up my truck and hooked jumpers to the connections under the hood and this powered the car so that I could pop the trunk with the electronic button. |
