So here is a good question.

How do you clean inside the grille that tends to trap bugs, leaves, etc. ?

Am using a long pic to plug out crap but not best solution.

Not hijacking thread but part of exterior cleaning

I’m curious about why that is to. It is obviously clear coated so I don’t get why they say that, but there must be a reason. I’m might try a small test spot under the wing with the wax and see what happens.

Obviously I get the reason for not doing it to the black hood mat wrap.

Easy - wash it once n while. Drive it hard, put it away wet.

Chemical guys and Adams make a spray sealant/protectant for satin vinyl. Google it.

You can XPEL the rear spoiler, no problem…

If you do have success, please report back! I was thinking the same thing since it is cleared, but it mentioned discoloring/affecting the carbon so I didn't want to just do it without asking the pros on here first.

Curious as well. Main reason I made this thread since the ZLEs have so many different types of exterior pieces and places for junk to hide.

Definitely not a pro, but I have been doing my own thing for quite a few years with mostly success.

My previous BMW had a lot of carbon pieces and I waxed/ceramic coated over those with no adverse reactions from the products. I wouldn't think GM does CF/clear coat much different from everyone else, but I guess you never know. It might be awhile before I get to it, but I will report back with what happens.

There's a lot of interesting comments in this thread; some stuff I've been wondering about and haven't quite found answers yet on.

Thank you all for sharing.

I have used several spray sealants both as drying aids and as standalone products on all surfaces of my zle, hood, wing, carbon hood, etc. no problems whatsoever.

I like opticoat hyperseal lately but have had success with carpro reload and optimum optiseal.

Hey I forgot you got a ZLE, it'll be nice to talk to you over here now as well!

Yah, my M3 and M4 were black, hyper blue (I think it is called) can be a pain I'm guessing, but obviously not as bad as black.

Interesting... did it affect the matte black or discolor/alter the carbon fiber? I may just bite the bullet and order the latest blackfire ceramic package and see how it does. Maybe those warnings are more toward acidic off the shelf cleaners and such?

I'm the guy with the Crush ZLE that paid 6k for PPF. Handing over my credit card for this was probobly akin to paying my annual taxes - physically ill.. Lol.

That being said.... After owning and driving her for 3 months with this protection is a new experience. Basically, I just don't t care about anything! I used to freak out about anyone touching my cars. Someone leaning up against it would initiate Defcon 1. Now, it's all good. This Xpel is amazing stuff! It obviously won't stop a bullet, but it's ability to protect and self heal has changed my life. Worth EVERY dollar. If she gets a little ratty, I do a quick maintenance wash and towel dry. I never have to worry about swirl marks or scratching during the drying process.

Do your research on installers though. Cheap quote usually means cheap job.

My hood was wrapped with satin PPF - it's called 3M Stealth. And the wing is fully wrapped as well.

Oh, and btw, I clay bar'd the hood and wing prior to PPF and got wonderful results.
