A little surprising that it outsold the mustang. But I gotta give it to Dodge for using the same design for the last decade now, they're still selling those things.

Its not a midlife crisis if it is consistent with a lifetime's behavior.

Previous daily drivers
  • 1976 Trans Am 455, 4-speed, Bandit Y82
  • 1975 Monza 2+2 with 327 in3 transplant - 11:1, holley, headers... Yes - I put snow tires on it and drove it winters
  • 1978 Trans Am 6.6L, 4-speed, Bandit Y82
  • 1984 Monte Carlo SS (blue)
  • 1991 Z28, 5.7L
  • 1996 Firebird V6, M6, Black, t-top
  • 2004 GTO M6
  • 2013 ZL1 M6 - didn't technically daily because I drove the aged 2004 GTO winters
  • 2016 2SS A8
  • 2018 2SS M6

Sure, the Chevelle isn’t likely to come back but the Camaro is at risk too. GM just doesn’t know how to manage a sports car, other than the Corvette and Corvette basically runs itself.

The Chevelle was an awesome beautiful muscle car!! .I hope they don't ever bring it back and ruin its name.

agree - my first car in high school was a hot rod 63 Impala that I built myself.

My first new car out of college was a 89 IROC 5.0 5-speed

And I've always had one or two cars like that ever since! I won't bore y'all with the whole list - it's kinda long....

I think they are fine with SS and ZL1, the sports cars (if you think the Camaro is a sports car). The issue, just like it was in 2001, is the L4 and V6. These aren’t sports cars (if you believe the Camaro is a sports car). They are sporty cars. And in this segment visibility, trunk space and rear seat accommodations mean more than awesome performance.
