Another point is the current V6 car makes more HP than the LT1 V8 in the 4th gen and not far off the first LS1 motors for that matter.

If you can afford the SS, then get the SS. You'll want it later on and the only choice you'll have is to pay more.

There are many reasons that a 2SS is not the car for a college student.
Borrowing money to buy it is one. Summer tires are another. I see you are in NC. Even there, the summer tires will not perform well on rainy daisy below 50 degrees. And as mentioned by others, moving stuff around is yet another. I recall how useful was for me to have a VW bus in those days. Probably moving a girl's bureau was more impressive than doing a burnout. But also I was moving around a lot in those days. Regarding maintenance, there's nothing extraordinary about maintaining a Camaro except the tires you consume doing said burnouts. |

2-3 days being a daily driver, city/highway probably about 50/60 miles a day. I also don't baby around town so the full RPM band is being used |

4th gen - lots more storage space - just sayin!! Still a Camaro!! closer to beater status so if parked on the street you worry about it a whole lot less.

Ah didn't realize you were referring to a 1LE. On the SS they're staggered as well, so they're different sizes too.

Here’s a question that has’nt been asked: when you finally graduate what will your degree be? If it’s an engineering/coding/technical (BS degree)mand not in liberal arts (BA) I say get the 2SS… Because you’ll find a good job immediately. However if it’s liberal arts, save the money, you’re going to need it , because you’ll be wearing a name tag with your name on it.

Either way 22k to throw towards a car I would get a V6. As you are in college and might need that money for textbooks and other amenities+living expenses. Don't put yourself into debt just to appease other people Its YOUR car and if your happy with it ignore them or ask them where there V8 is. Guy at work rants on me for not having a true v8 and I ask him where his is and he always makes an excuse (kids/wife/not economical) as he drives a 2004 civic. Basically I'm having fun and he isn't. Take it from a guy who has a 2018 V6 with 335HP+285Ft/lbs of torque and 9.0L/100Km's on a car that can do 0-60 in 5.1s. Its a ton of fun. Also maintenance cost are pretty reasonable... 70$ CAD for oil change. I got over 40000km's on my car and haven't had a single mechanical or electrical issue. They are reliable cars IMO Last edited by SkySerpent; 09-24-2019 at 05:05 PM. Reason: Forgot to add quote |

too bad you need blind spot monitoring.i drive a 2015 RS camaro(V6) and it is pretty quick, but wont vaporize your rear tires and gas money the way an SS will, plus the 6 speed auto is more proven than the 2016 and up A8.how about a V61LE camaro?it would have the 6 speed manual,6th gen styling and blind spot monitoring, plus if you dont abuse it,it might be worth a little more than a plain RS someday.

V6-Manual actually puts down more Torque to the wheels than the V8-manual in first gear due to the higher gear ratio. V8-A8 of course is better and V8-A10 better still.
