I would go for a Dexos 2 oil, like Mobil 1. That was the requirement for my 2010 SS, while Dexos 1 is the standard for all the rest of the GM fleet.

Dexos 2 is more for GM diesel engines. There is a Dexos 1 Gen 2 specification though.

Dexos 2 is for both diesel and gasoline engines. The link to the gen 2 dexos 1 specs were provided in a previous post of mine.

Dexos 2 is not the recommended oil for the 6th gen Camaro. And Mobil 1 comes in both dexos 1, 2, and...plain ole oil (non-licensed dexos).

My guess is that it should meet or exceed the blend.
Read the label, mobil one 5-30 full synthetic has the dexos on it. All corvette's with the exact same LT1 require mobil 1 only. Full synthetic is always better than a blend ...period

Yes. As long as an oil has the little green "Dexos1" logo on it, that means GM has approved it for use in your car.

Green label = Dexos1, primarily for gasline engines.

Blue label = Dexos2, primarily for diesel engines.

However, in your manuals, you'll find a recommendation to run Dexos2-spec oils of 5W-40 weight for use while racing to withstand the higher temperatures of track-duty.

Right, OP wasn't referring to track use. He mentioned his first "free oil change" which implies daily use, in which case dexos 1 oil is the recommended oil.

True. Someone else mentioned Dexos2...just wanted to clarify what role that stuff plays in "Camaroland".

haha, you mean 5-quart jug, correct?

also, I've only found the 5-quart jug at Wal-Mart; everywhere else the jug is 4-quarts. Notably, the 5-quart jug sells for the same price at Wal-Mart as the 4-quart jug does at O'Riley.
