In all my years, I have always gone with whatever the engine builder recommended. So since that engine builder is GM, I do it some time before 7,500 miles whenever is convenient for me.

I'm going to change my SS oil every 4k miles.

My first oil change was done at 4300 miles with 8% remaining oil life remaining. I could tell it needed it. Much smoother now.

Been doing 5K in both of my vehicles for several years now. Seems to be a good halfway point between the 3K the dealer would like, and the 7.5K the computer recommends.

Personally i get an oil analysis done. On any given analysis there is section that says you can go a bit longer or to go shorter interevals given the results of the analysis.

It beats 50,000 "do this or do thats", when we know the given is that every engine is different, and not all oils are created the same nor do they last the same.

In the end you gotta do what works for you. But using science and analysis couple with facts will help make a more informed decision if one is serious about figuring out when they specifically need to change.
