Yep, ill just set up to shift unlocked and be done with this issue. Tired of fussing with it honestly.

Ive heard from one or two others in the past with this issue and it seems that it just works for some and not others.

It COULD be this or it COULD be that. I may never know for sure without doing a full fluid flush/swap and replacing the converter... which is just too much money and PITA, for possibly no change.

Car runs fantastic on the 3.7", (almost) full E85, and port injection. Im happy either way. If i were doing road course maybe id want a locked converter for heat reasons, but i dont see that in the near future.

Once i get the converter updated to shift unlocked, and get the shift points where i want them (again) for unlocked, im pretty confident in some longer pulls and maybe a 1/4 mi run.

Well, between the 3000+ DA days in Missouri, the canada wildfire smoke creeping in all the time, and the frequent storms lately, really havent had a good chunk of time to do any dialing in of anything since setting up to shift unlocked.

The wildfire smoke is coming back this week. I changed out the air filter for my HOME HVAC, and that thing was almost black after only 2-3 months. Ive let it go for 6-8 months before and it would never get half that dirty.

I dont think the car cares much, its got a washable filter, but the smoke def has an effect on MY health.

Hopefully better days are ahead.

Just want to shake things out a bit more and then get it to the track soon.

Alrighty then...

This represents, at least to me, as close to perfection as I had wanted.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the TCC looked like it just wasn't holding up because the TCC slip with it unlocked was very close to the slip when lock was commanded at a given RPM.

Whatever... I'm incredibly happy with this log result. If I didn't hork something up with my math, I've maintained the even 70/30 split between ECU and port injection, so I should still be able to use the MAF lbs/min and cyl airmass to compare to previous (pre-port-injection) tunes to gauge actual (non sotp) gains.

In general multiplying whatever is in HPT related to airmass by about 1.15-1.20 seems to put me in the ballpark of what I would expect the gains to be. Meaning 30% more boost (with the pulley down) should equal 30% more air, 30% more fuel etc... and for the most that all scales out linearly in theory as well as in the log results. That 1.15 to 1.20 was arrived at by having 30% of airflow in the Reflex and not measured by ECU, minus the 10% i pulled from PE and added to MAF (inflates MAF value), minus the 5% over fueling (likely due to MAF calibration which also overinflates the airflow lbs/min).

I'm still running VERY rich at those higher boost levels (around .78 lambda) to hedge my bets in that area.

I see no more KR to speak of now. I found two areas that were almost certainly causing knock, but they were physical issues with something in the engine compartment.

ONLY thing I would want to do is adjust the Reflex a little more to not rely so much on lambda-based correction. The lamda adjustments will ONLY pull fuel, so if something happens with the O2 sensor, it should default extremely rich. On average its pulling about 5% fuel all the time at WOT. So that is part of why I'm including that 10% - 15% correction factor mentioned above in my calculations as it does throw off some of the MAF math. I do want to "tame" that a bit more and hone that in closer...., but the result is that everything is spot on where I want it. Good enough IMO for a trip to the track to see what she'll do, then I can futz with some of those more minor details.

I just recently learned that you've got a new track a little east of KC. And they're shutting down Topeka.

I'm in STL, so I've only ever gone to WWT (aka Gateway) in IL.

There's another in Bonne Terre, but have never gone there. Not sure if that one is 1/8 or 1/4 mile. Doesn't seem to be more than just a Facebook page as far as detail go there.

So I really looked at the log data you posted and compared it to one of mine from this past weekend. We are doing the port injection different and I'm not trying to start an argument of which method is better but just look at some of the differences, specifically cylinder airmass. I lined it up at a similar rpm. This was 10lbs of boost (24.7-14.7atmosphere).

I appreciate you posting that. Always nice to be able to compare data. Well, I think that supports my theory about what multiplication factor to use at least.

You've got 82 lbs/min and 1.4 g/cyl... if you take my 68.1 * 1.15 = 78.3 lbs/min and 1.15 g/cyl * 1.15 = 1.32 g/cyl...

Since you are cammed I would expect your setup to flow more air than my stock setup.

No arguments from me on which way is better I see some benefit in the way you and radz28 are doing it.

The method I used was very straightforward for the most part, so for someone with zero experience adding port, it was a great start.

Dialed in CJ and gonna hit the track? Hopefully you run good at the track and reap the benefits of this project. While you say you’re not a tuner one thing for sure is you’re progress says you’ve learned and executed well. Congrats!

haha, always willing and able to break stuff in order to learn Thanks!

Just need the heat, and now the rain chances, to let up.

Finally had a chance to test things a bit now that the weather isn't 9 billion degrees and/or raining

I picked up about .4 seconds on my 40-90mph test with the port injection and 3.7" pulley. I know a 40-90mph run doesn't really relate to anything most people will find useful, but lets face it, it's what's practical. It's basically a 3rd gear pull.

Still plan on making it to a track event this year to do a real test...

But from my last pass at the TRACK in negative 200DA with 4.13 pulley and E50 my 40-90mph was 3.62 seconds.

My recent test in 1800DA with the 3.7" pulley and port injection on E72 got me a 40-90mph of 3.24.

These were all obtained using a Dragy. This is a pretty substantial gain compared to other mods using the same metric, so I think I've got a shot at 10.2-10.3 @ maybe 135.
