I gotta say, at $74K (not including markups) and 4225 pounds as compared to the $64K ZL1 at 3933 pounds, GM is really putting a beating on Ford. It really is a shame. That extra HP is not going to help it especially when the GT500 will be nose heavy and the ZL1 is well balanced.

Even at less than $60K and approx 3400 pounds the Base C8 is going to destroy the Base GT500. And I'm betting that the 1LT Z51 will eat up the CF GT500. If it is true that the Z51 beats the current Z06, then there is no hope for the GT500 at all. And the sad thing is that everyone was waiting for the GT500 to come in and save the day. Sorry Ford guys. Maybe next Gen.

The ZL1 weighs 3,933 pounds. And the ZLE weighs about 60 pounds less than the standard ZL1 so that makes approx 3,870 pounds.
M6G logic would dictate that the heavier base version of the GT500 beat the lower powered track ZL1 1LE due to its YUGE, 110 HP, power advantage. Bigly

And it will feel like it's much lighter, smh.

Lol. So to recap...$11K more expensive, less torque, 180 mph limiter, 200 pounds heavier = theys stomach upset.

Ford really shit the bed. They might as well just offer their fan base rides to the nearest Chevy dealership. I mean how could they be this far off after 6 years of development? But, I will restrain myself and say that we have yet to see how well it actually performs. Maybe we'll all be in for a surprise. Not likely but...

4225 lbs!!? That’s downright embarrassing. ~350 lbs heavier than the 13/14 GT500. It’s essentially the same size as the ZL1 but 250 lbs heavier. No wonder Ford didn’t release the weight. Most densely powered supercharged engine and most dense pony car, in general (yes it’s 280 lbs lighter than a red eye but smaller). This is very disappointing.

The ONLY excuse for that weight (and it's price) will be if it comes fully optioned like the ZL1 does. At least the Hellcats all came with heavy options in the past. If this is bare bones weight then that will just add to the disappointment.

Let's use the lighter R weight (as opposed to the heavier non-R). So at 3720 pounds we'll add about 200 pounds for the blower setup and all fluids and components. So that puts us at 3920 pounds. I found a source that claims the Tremec 7sp DCT weighs around 229 pounds wet while the trans in the GT350R weighed about 122 pounds. So that is an extra 100 pounds which puts us at 4020. Add in the brakes, coolers, etc and I can definitely see an extra 100 pounds putting it over 4100. If it is the heavier base GT350 that the GT500 comes closer to then I pretty much bet it will be over 4100 pounds.

Just a few things I found interesting:
The ZL1 with A10 trans weighs 3933.
The ZLE with A10 trans weighs 3944.
The SS with A10 trans weighs 3739.
The LT4 engine complete weighs in at 526 pounds.
The LT1 engine complete weighs in at 465 pounds.

2012 SS with M6 weight 3860.
2012 ZL1 with M6 weighed 4120.

2019 GT with manual trans weighs 3705.
2013 GT with manual trans weighed 3605.
2013 GT500 weighed 3850.
GT350R weight is 3741.

So given the weight differences, the 6th Gen Camaros lost weight as compared to the 5th Gens while the S550s gained weight. But it does seem to be about a 200 pound weight difference between the GTs and SSs and their supercharged brethren. So It might be possible for the GT500 to come in at just under 4000 pounds. They did remove the rear seats am I right? And the CF driveshaft saves weight and rotational mass. So I guess it is possible. And for their sake I do hope they were able to keep it under 4K. But I do think it will be in the 4100 pound range. We'll soon see.

If it loses to the 350R then that is certainly bad news. Because I don't think there would be any track that it'll beat a ZL1 in if that is the case. The R, according to some, was faster than the ZL1 around corners. But the ZL1 beat it because it made up for that time in the straights where it pummeled the R. So if the GT500 can't beat the R then it was probably on a track where it could not stretch it's legs. And that means that it definitely does not corner as well as the R. Probably because it weighs 4100 pounds and is nose heavy. So against a well balanced car like the ZL1 which has a better engine design it will not stand a chance. And then there's the ZLE...
I'm sticking to my predictions.

If true, add another reason to the bucket on why Ford is trash.

WOW. 4225 is a about two BigMacs from Redeye! How much with the CFTP? Over 4100?

I can't believe they were hyping how light it feels! Now, I'm sure the carbon fiber wheels make a huge difference, but come on, that's a disappointment. I expected under 4000 for the CFTP. Not a chance now...

On the other note, the Corvette pricing thing above shows a top speed of 194 MPH!

I'm disappointed in the big gap in pricing up to the 2LT from the 1. I was hoping for a $5k jump or so. But you do get a lot...

194 for the Stingray is crazy considering it is a NA car. So if the Z51 is faster, then it just might be better than the Z06 afterall.

If that pricing is correct (I have my doubts), then I'm in line for either a 3LT Z51 with no add-ons or a 2LT Z51 with high-wing and some additional visual things.

C&D tested the Redeye at 4,514 lbs. and Motor Trend had one that was 4,521 lbs, which is still nearly 300 lbs heavier than the GT500. Still, that's too close for comfort if you ask me.
