I think the better question is will the Z28 be necessary in the 7th gen. As with the 6th gen the Z28 may just not needed . If there is a 7th gen Z28 it should be built around a AWD Hybrid platform ,its time .
DCT is used in track cars so is CCW, that needed to be IMO on the next Z/28 to make it a track car to top the ZLE, do we see any new spy shots of a 6th gen car coming out NO, looks like its done i hope i am not right here, but i see no new postings at all, time will tell.

One last thing,

Z/28 = road race car, years made, 67-69 next was1970-1971 then 2014-15

Z28 = years made, 1972-74 then back in 1977-1992, 1993 to 2001.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in you know what that we see a new Z/28. If the Camaro was leading the sales war, maybe. IMO, there's no spot in the lineup for a new Z/28. Where would it fit in? All bases are pretty well covered with this car as it is now.

Didn't the badging on the 70 and 71 Z cars drop the slash IIRC? I know that GM people have said there is a difference between a slash and non slash but I am pretty sure the 70 and 71 cars had no slash.

This ^ the 5th gen car put the Z/28 name on a pedestal and the ZLE put the nail in the coffin.

No, Tadge making the Z06 into a do anything car put the nail in the coffin of a Z/28.

The actual slash in the 68 , 69 Z/28 was not on the 70 ,71 and so on in the same way, but the slash was represented within the letter Z itself with the 28 centered after. Now i don't know how true that is but who really knows. I do know the 67 Z28 had no emblem ,it was just a RPO , like the 1Le is now.

DCT wasn't needed to make the ZLE a better track car . A lighter AWD car with a revised suspension underneath along with a HP boost will be enough for a 7th gen Z28 without the DCT. Save that DCT for those Mid Engine Corvettes .
I have read recently that the GT500 may also be available with a manual trans which I'm sure made a lot of people happy .

Gen seven refresh is on indefinite hold,no new product indentified at Grand River after 2022( the end of gen six production) Chances are Slim and none on a seven, let alone a Z/28. Slim could be boarding the bus..enjoy your cars fellers.

Sad and likely true. If the 7th gen truly never materializes, that will probably be what makes me leave GM. Dodge and Ford plan to go ahead with the Mustang and Challenger after the current gens but GM is likely going to kill the Camaro again. Sick and tired of the mismanagement of this brand.

Those with AWD comments need to stop. Camaro has never been, and never should be AWD.

Before the long justification of AWD posts (I've owned AWD vehicles, and still do), I am NOT saying GM shouldn't make an AWD performance car...but IF they do, it should not be a Camaro - call it something else.

That's what I thought which is why I don't buy the real Z/28s have slashes and GM knowingly removed the / because a Z28 isnt the same as a Z/28.

People conveniently leave the 70 and 71 out of it, but is isn't till 72 that they dont consider Z28s Z/28s lol.

Not saying I don't buy that they watered the badge down by making it the base V-8 jsut saying I don't buy they dropped the slash intentionally

Agree. I'd never buy an AWD Camaro. If I need AWD, I have my truck and SUV.

first the GT 500 is getting the new DCT its on a nob for the shiftier and yes the DCT will help out the ZLE, any thing that helps you shift faster helps, the tDCT was built for the pony car for some time now.

Every single Z28 or Z/28 carried the same RPO - Z28 on it's build sheet/sticker.
