Drag Radial Question
I am going to buy a new set on Monday to cut better 60 foots. My question is I am getting different advice from different people. Some are saying I need a larger sidewall, while some suggest I need a smaller sidewall because of stock converter. I am currently running Nitto Nt555r with 305/45/18 on c5 zo6 wheels.
My two choices of wheel will be 305/35/18 MT S/S or 305/45/18 ET street R. My only difference in mods listed In my sig will be I will add e85 and a new tune within the next week or two. Two people I know who were running the ET street R's were cutting 1.6's this weekend on A8 cars but with less mods. All advice is welcome.

Which ever tire is about 28" tall is the one to use, don't go shorter.

The 35 is way to short and the 45 is 28.8 which will probably hit the inside of fender well and mess with your tune.

Snowblind runs around a 29 I believe and it worked well. As long as not lowered should be ok
The 35 is only 26.5 and no sidewall. Get the 305/45/18 et street r. Air them down to 16-20 range. Good burnout and hold on. |

Mine are 17's and 28.1 tall. May be a little shorter now with 15 passes on them.

He may run that exact size. PM him.
17x4.5 front runners will pick you up another tenth. It all adds up. You want to run more air in the front tires btw |

I would look at the M&H racemaster drag radials. 275-45-18 at 28"s tall and they would be perfect. I think there are several on this forum running those with great results

Um, you guys are making recommendations based on stock or modified stock intake manifolds and the torque curve that they have. This thing has an MSD intake manifold, and a big cam too, with a stock torque converter (low rpm stall). With 29" tires bogging it down, the word on the launch will be 'lazy'.

That's a very small cam duration wise.
I think it would do fine with the 28.8. But good point a shorter tire could be better. Maybe the m h like laynlo suggested |

I went with 305/45/18 et street r, e85 install, new tune and found out my trsns tune is still stock so that is getting fixed with the new tune. Hoping i start to hit low 11s finally. Taking the car to a "well known shop for the e85 and tune/trans tune"
