New Nitto D/R's took off 4/10ths on my SS M6

I brought a set of Nitto D/R's last week and got to make a pass with them on the weekend. First pass I was 12.49 @ 115.99 MPH. I didn't get to make any more passes as track was real busy. I figure I can get down to 12,2 with just heating tires up before my run.

Nice time, which Nitto did you go with? The 555R or the NT05R?

I went with the NT05R, they hook up really nice! And didn't have to take a 2nd mortgage to buy them!

Yeah you should have a way better 60' time than that...get that down and watch your 1/4 time dip a lot more.

Just curious, that's a ZL1 you ran against correct? from the time slip it looks like he had you to the 1/8th on time but you were already closing the gap at +5mph at the 1/8th and pulling even harder on him at +10mph at the 1/4 very impressive.

I was a little confused buy the pictures relating to your time slip I see your car is marked ?810 which lines up with the 7810 time slip car running 12.492 but that is the right lane car and in the drag-strip picture your '16 is in the left lane? Not trying to create drama, just curious why they don't match.

Like I said I made only 1 pass as it was so busy. I didn't heat tires up other than a small burn out to clean them up as I thought I would get more passes but a guy blew up and everything was way behind. Will go to T&T this week and play around a bit more.

no problem at all, I was really surprised that a ZL1 got out of the hole faster than you and then you were able to run him down and pass him
makes more sense now

OP said he was only able to do a small burnout on his 1 pass he made. My previous experience with Nitto DR's is that they really need to vbe heated up to get sticky. At least that is how the NT555R's were

60' is going to be improved with seat time, doesn't matter if it's DR or factory, I would expect someone with a lot of passes at a particular track with factory tires to cut a great 60' while this is Steve's 1 and only pass on DR's. His times will drop as he gets a feel for the tire/car/track

Thanx ya I suspect I can drop 2/10ths quite easily on 60 foot. What are some of the 60 foot times you guys are seeing on DR's? What is the best way you have seen to launch the car? I just hit launch mode and let the clutch out and held the petal to the floor to the 1/4 mile. I have a video but cant seem to post it, if anyone knows how I can put it up.

There are people with 1.7 60' times on stock tires. I'm not sure how much you will be able to improve on that, but you would hope that DR tires would make a time like that more repeatable.
