Overrev

Can you overrev a L99 auto? Does the computer limit revs?
Thanks

No there is a cut off it won't let it go past & the trans will not allow the downshift in manual mode if it knows its not safe. So you are safe. Many LS3's have been damaged on over revs though on say a missed or incorrect downshift as there no protection for the trans.

ECM indeed does limit revs (4k in neutral/7k in gear IIRC). Though revving an unloaded engine is a bad idea, especially when engine/trans/fluids still cold. So I imagine one can still do some damage to an L99 if not using one's head.

When I really want to go with my L99, I shift down into sport mode and let her rip. I love to kill a 5.0 Mustang manual. I'm gone after his first shift even with 4000 lbs.
