Driveshaft Specialties - Experience?
I have had numerous driveshaft woes over the past year and now looking at another so I can get some passes in at the track without breaking. I was looking around as I'm not sure I want to spend 2k on a carbon fiber one especially as I am not 100% sure how I plan to change the build in the future.
I came across a "Driveshaft Specialties" Aluminum driveshaft (https://www.gulfcoastdriveshaft.com/.../ds-cssa-g635/) does anyone have any experience with this company? |

I broke a G Force aluminum shaft at the LS Fest in 2019, it had only 8 passes on it. So a buddy of mine had an extra Chromoly shaft from Drive Shaft Shop. Its still in the car with the new owner and my SS made over 850 at the wheels and never had an issue after that.

You can get ZL1 drive shafts for pretty cheap( take outs). If you have a A8 then just make sure to get a A10 shaft from a ZL1. Guys run 9's all day with those factory shafts.

What are they typically getting for the Zl1 shafts?

I have seen them for around 200.00-300.00.
If just a street car with some track use I think the ZL1 is perfectly capable for most. Dedicated track stuff looking for sub 1.3 60fts then yea get a DSS Chromoly like you had on your car. Hell might just be worth it for piece of mind on any car. Probably what I will do eventually. Moderator put this thread in the wrong section. Driveshaft stuff belongs in the Transmission section.

I ran the stock DS all the way down to 9.80s with my 2300. Didn't replace it till I went to 2650 and then broke that Aluminum shaft. I think running slicks during a lot of those low 10 second passes helped the stock DS survive. Didn't go to the MT R till we rebuilt the first motor.
