Stage 2 procharger intercooler

Has anyone removed front crashbar on 2016 Camaro to allow more air to intercooler? If so did you also remove black foam piece or just cut it up. Did it help with iat's? If you have any pictures I would greatly appreciate it. TIA

I have not, but am very interested in knowing the answer as well. The bar would appear to be very restrictive of the airflow over the intercooler.

Hopefully, someone who is here has done this with good results.

It has already been done and I will be doing it this spring when the Procharger goes in. It’s main reason is for air flow. Definitely don’t let your insurance company know. Not for everyone, just the insane track guys.

Lethal does it for both air flow and the chiller to be mounted. The pic is someone else’s car and looks like just for air flow.

I wouldn’t remove the whole bar, I would do what lethal did but I also might weld a straight round bar across to support the fenders. This way lots of air flow is still coming thru with an added support. Plus leaving the area for the tow hook is essential.

Plus there’s a Camaro6 thread on this as well.

BlackbeastSS2, I always do a search before I ever post. Never did any of my searches come up with this information. But thank you very much. I'm like the idea of keeping the tow hook connection too.

I don't have any first hand experience, but I would assume any competent insurance adjuster is going to notice the crash bar is missing. Furthermore, if you were in an accident, the minute the car hits the shop floor, the autobody tech is going to notice and then likely report it to the insurance.

The bar is there for a reason, please consider this before driving the car on the street.

Thanks Karen.

Do you ever go over the speed limit in your car? The speedometer is there for a reason.

This is track car, thank you very much for your concern. I am more concerned about two 10 pound bottles of Nitrous gas in my car then a cut up crash bar with a reinforced steel rod. “ Born free, die free”

Wasn't speaking to you. Thanks, and no reason for the childish name calling.
