Does Secondary Cat Delete Increase Pops? Cause CEL?

Those of you with secondary cat deletes does the car seem to pop and crackle more on the over run? I'm looking to remove mine tomorrow.

Also have you guys had issues getting the welds done right to prevent the Check Engine Light?

before I put LTs on and a catback I drove around for about a month or so with the 2nd cats removed (welded straight pipes). No CEL at all and yes there were more noticeable pops and crackles (louder too).

Yup, before I was running headers with high flows, I had the secondary cat deletes and there was a noticeable increase in the pops and gurgles on deceleration.

Also, pull the fuse bruv. The NPP closes itself on decel. Much more noticeable when you have both cats deleted (because the puny valves rattle like crazy)

I love hearing the overrun pops and bangs. I'm pumped to hear it even more.

FYI
Added a poll. Those of you who had this done please vote on if you did or didn't have Check Engine Light issues afterwards.

In for results......my last car (15 5.0 with roush axleback and x pipe) was crazy loud and made tons of pops and gurgles on decel. That is the one thing I do miss from that car on my 1LE. Hoped that the Borla S Type with x pipe would fix things but it isn't quite agressive enough for me.

It closes itself even in track mode?

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm looking to upgrade to the borla s-type cat back. I keep reading on these forums that the exhaust is "welded" but when I read borla's instructions, there is no welding just clamps. Am I missing something?

Does this have to be done by a muffler shop or can i do this myself?

I think borla offers 2 versions of the catback. One keeps the secondary cats in place the other does not. The latter (no 2nd cats) does not require any welding, it should bolt right up to the factory primary cats. Keeping the secondary cats in place will require cuts and welds.

Just make sure you order the correct one.

I was looking at 60610. ok so I see the 60609 removes the secondary cats. So no welding with the 60610.

Thanks!!
