FI 6m launch advice
Hey guys, my last 1/4 mile pass was 3+ decades ago. I would appreciate any advice on how to launch the car from guys with similar mods. I'm on the OEM goodyear's for now.

Here is a bump for you, as I would be interested in some additional insight as well.
I'm probably the last person to give advice. But... Here is what I'm taking with me the next time I go down the track. o Go through water box o Spin the tires in 1st to get the water water off/clean tires o Have in Track mode o Turn off traction control/put in competitive mode o Launch at/ish 2200-2400rpm (and adjust from there) I'm second guessing NLS as the two times I ran, it chirped the tires and possibly hurt my trap speed (guessing there). Then again your on a Maggie.. you probably have to feather the clutch/launch at a lower RPM. Either way good luck and have fun! I was giddy for hours my first time. |

Thanks for the advice! You thread is actually what inspired me to ask for launch advice. I'll try out your technique and report back with my results. I've been working with Ted Jannetty on remote tuning; he just emailed what should be my final tune yesterday, I haven't even had time to load it yet. I would guess that we're at pretty close to the same power level now but I concur that launching my PD equipped car may be a little more challenging.

Hey man I am M6 with the Maggie as well. I wouldn't even waste my time trying to launch on the stock tires.
At very minimum get a pair of Nitto 555R's for the back I found the track in Steele was pretty decently prepped and not overly crowded compared to commerce and even silver dollar When I get another pair of racing tires we'll have to meet up at the track. It will be fun As far as launching Go through water box and spin the tires enough to hear them up. (Nittos need to be pretty warm before they get sticky) I would launch around 2500 rpm Lightly feathering/slipping until you feel it hook then aggressively give more throttle I couldn't go 100% wot in first gear until it was time to upshift to second. You might have different results. Let us know how you do!

My first time I sucked on my burnout. Should I just use the line lock option with an A10?
